Here is a sign I did 6-7 years ago. Both face the same direction, south so they get the sun from sun rise to set. The Channel Logo is Gerber Edge non lam, while the Fermentor print is solvent ink.
Dan and Kas have good points.
I would suggest http://www.oneida-air.com/gorilla_3hp.php
I have both a DC and Air filter directly above the table to collect the fine dust WHEN I happen to be cutting MDF for kids projects.
I mainly cut plastics and most of all aluminum. I like the DC on while...
Forums are definetley not a way to become rich or obtain a livable income. I started out with a gaming forum and gave that up, now just a member. If you're making a $1 an hour for your time consider yourself lucky.
My forum is electrical sign based and it's not exactly a growing industry it's...
Funny you should mention something Gino I have always thought.
I think you want to maintain a certain part of the trade, there is a balancing act that will be paid for one way or another.
I see way too many newbs coming off the street who have never done a job in their life and learning "how...
If you going to buy one and can afford it I STRONGLY recommend a 5'x10'. Everyone who has bought a 4x8 always wishes they could have bought a larger footprint cut.
Also don't buy a machine where you hear 6-10" per second. Rarely will you go above 2.5" per second for sign fabrication.

Have you looked at the new PRS Alpha, quite nice :thumb:
I have mine pretty dialed in, my table harmonics while cutting is excellent. I personally can't...
I'm trying to understand your point.
Yes railing, with rolling bearings, gantry moved by steppers. Quality cuts on a low priced good quality machine. Like I said, no real complaints.
I'd like you to name a better 12-14k machine that is of better quality and value.
Well the sure weight of a machine can help out in preventing vibration and the advantage of that will in turn be better edge quality. I've been doing 1" acrylic for push thru's and have done 1/2" aluminum letters no problem. Servo's are of course faster than steppers, but believe me, you only...
I have to greatly disagree with you.
I've had mine for soon to be 3 years and friends who have had theirs for 8+ and none of us have had any real problems. And for a little under 20k?
I use about under 10% of the real function of what my table can do. I've checked the edge quality of a...
