The mod podge stenciling I've seen def falls more into the "crafts" category than proper sign making but for a small, interior job I don't see an issue. I came across this when trying to figure out how to keep a stencil down on a coated awning. Again, I have not tried this myself. Tutorials...
If you go with the stencil method you can prime it with mod podge before painting to avoid bleed. I haven't had the opportunity to try this yet but I've seen other people do it and it seems to work well. I'm not sure about the clear coating afterwards though, if its latex paint and they aren't...
I'm using the Epson s80600 with Onyx. We are printing a vehicle wrap that is basically a solid color (slight gradient throughout) and I'm worried about banding as we had some to start. I got that sorted out and suggested we run it on a higher pass. I used 4 vs 12 as an example. Now we aren't...
I don't think many millennials/zoomers are aware of the sign making business. I'm 29 and I find it difficult to explain to my peers what exactly I do. Nobody really thinks about where signs come from. Before this I had frequent work doing decorative chalkboard signs for restaurants, I always...
A few years ago I abruptly 'quit' a job I was doing for a client. He was extremely bizarre and not all there, I decided to google him and found out he was on the S.O. Registry with crimes against children. He flipped out and said he could sue me, I was new to working with clients directly and...
Gotta say I love when people ruin fine art. Or make new art, depending on how you view it. Like when that guy punched the hole in the Monet, and the guy who erased the De Kooning drawing. Cards Against Humanity once did a promo where they had a Picasso linocut print and they had people vote...
If its not the dampers then check the material isn't picking up dust on its way through the machine. We have horrible static in the winter and sometimes we have to wipe the material as it feeds in on especially electric days lol. The head might be picking up debris as it runs.
We are printing almost daily on the 80600 and I have replaced all of the inks twice since July. That seems fine to me based on how much we print but I'm not the one paying for the ink so I can't really say.
Hi from New Hampshire :)
We are in a pinch so we are using Briteline MultiGrip because nothing is sticking to this awning fabric. The multigrip works but is obviously not ideal. I read online about using mod podge to seal the edges (the real concern) and that would also keep the vinyl stuck down. Since we haven't done...
I finally left the restaurant industry and started making signs last year. I make less money but my quality of life is so much better, there's no going back. I've never worked in a restaurant with a healthy work environment, always critically bad. I'm glad workers are leaving and improving their...
Thanks for making me aware of this so I can seem well informed and technologically aware when I let my boss know! :p
But yeah we fell from first result to the third page... yikes
So we just had from Christmas eve until today off from work. I expressed concern about leaving the printer and a few of the guys who would be here throughout the week assured me they would shake the white ink cartridge. Well yeah, they admittedly only did once. We didn't put it into storage mode...
