  1. Does anyone else HATE Corel 12?

Version 9 had a problem with contours. On curved contours it always made a series of flat spots to make up a curve instead of a smooth curve.
  2. Graphtech Vs. Designtech

First, make sure you have your graphic selected. Put your cursor over each if the tool icons on the left side of the screen...a little text box will pop up and tell you what each tool is. Go down until you find the fill tool and click it. A flyout will open with several selections in it...hit...
  3. Converting images, I'm stressed

I assume by "converting images" you mean converting bitmaps to vector images so they will cut on your plotter. There is no magic program for this...CorelTrace works as well as anything I've tried. I've heard that the X3 trace works better than previous versions. It simply takes practice and...
  4. Does anyone else HATE Corel 12?

To all those having trouble with Corel 12 crashing...you might try going to tools/options/workspace/general...change the number of undo levels to about 15 or 20 regular and 2 or 3 bitmap. Also under workspace/save... turn off the autobackup. And finally under workspace/memory... change memory...
  5. Newbie ?

If the Graphtec you are purchasing comes with cutting software, and you buy some version of CorelDraw, then yes, you will be set to cut vinyl. I have lots of software, but Corel and one of my cutting programs is what I use everyday...the rest just sits idle until I need it every once in a while.
  6. Does anyone else HATE Corel 12?

I think Windows XP is supposed to be able to handle a lot more fonts than older versions of Windows could, but it is worth a try to get rid of some of them. Don't delete them, though, just uninstall them. Use Bitstream Font Navigator that comes with Corel...Keep them there and just...
  7. Newbie ?

Always go for the latest version. I haven't used it yet, but I hear X3 has some significant improvements over earlier versions. It you're on a budget, you might save some money by buying an outdated version and then just paying for the upgrade to X3, instead of just ordering X3 by itself. If...
  8. Corel 12 to Win Plot problems

I tried it and it worked OK for me...but I have seen this happen before. You can try a different offset on the contour...sometimes that helps. If the original word IT disappears and you still have the contour, then just go back and duplicate the words and apply the contour to the duplicate...
  9. Roland CJ-500 Question

With a printer/cutter I don't see that the plotter pen would be of any real value, because you can just print a line drawing. But for people who have just a cutter (no printer), the plotter pen could come in handy for such tasks.

  11. Graphtech Vs. Designtech

Good luck and keep us posted on how the machine works for you. When I bought my Vinyl Express years ago, I did all the research I could, but had no real people to talk to. Except for salespeople. They all invariably tell you the machine you're interested in is a "workhorse"...they must be taught...
  12. Graphtech Vs. Designtech

I have never owned a Graphtec or a Designtec...I have a Roland and a Vinyl Express. My thinking is this...If the Designtec was designed to cut vinyl, then it will cut the Hotmark material. I have used the Thermoflex (which is another brand of t-shirt lettering material) and my VE cut it just...
  13. CorelDraw Powerclip??????

Go to tools/options/workspace/edit. Uncheck the box that says "auto-center new powerclip contents".
  14. Font ID Please

I had to think for a minute...I knew it was something to do with a hot dog.
  15. Font ID Please

  16. problem with typing a font in corel12

You can still use the affected fonts...just type your text and go to Format Text and adjust the character spacing. It's an annoying extra step, but you can at least use the font.
  17. Font ID?

Looks almost like the dreaded BrushScript in all caps.
  18. Paneling - Flexi 7.5v5

Looks like you've got it set up right to me. If you have to do some adjusting, though, that is the right kind of graphic...only two places it has to match up. When you have to panel big lettering, there's a lot of places it has to match up.
  19. Any Users of corel 13 (x3) yet

There is a pretty good review of Corel X3 in the latest issue of Signcraft. The guy made it sound so good I'm planning to upgrade soon.
  20. rookie question about Corel 9.0

As far as I know, Corel doesn't highlight selected objects by changing their outline color. It just gives you a bounding box around the object with an x in the middle. But if all your objects have fills assigned to them just select an object and look at the bottom right of the screen. There are...
