I've done it with an Epson 7700and pigment ink on Kapco clear and the customers liked the prints. I printed high quality and laminated with no problems.
White ink would be nice but ......
What inks are you printing with? I've been interested in the sepix inks but have been told the system is not their yet. I have a 7700 with pigment ink ans a Falcon Jr. I am interest in Graphic One Epson 9700 with sepix ink.
Galvanized sheet metal from a heating company cut to size covered with vinyl. Menu on magnetic pieces with vinyl lettering. You could could cover magnet with erasable vinyl and use erasable markers.
I am very clear with my orders and make them repeat if they are phone orders. I've been lucky or the vendors are good. I haven't had much troubles in 30+ years.
Check your heat settings, they may be too high. 45/45 is a good place to start. Try printing 720dpi x 720dpi bi-directional then unidirectional. I have a Falcon 38" and print 720 x 720 bi-directional with the heaters as high as the material will let me without it buckling.
