Oops - back to what I was saying. Are you just trying to get a contour cut around the bitmap or are you trying to convert the bitmap to a vector? If you are trying to get a contour cut around the bitmap try this. In PS or whatever program you may use copy your bitmap onto a new layer...

Try putting a slight blur on the bitmap this helps to smooth the edges.
