That's a good idea, since most shadows are there for effect only and don't do anything for legibility..
Myself, these days, I only use a shadow to increase contrast between and light-coloured letter and a dark-coloured background -- I no longer (or very rarely) use shadows under dark letters...
I always go down and to the right as more letter shapes open to the right and also a shadow to the right on italic type is not partially hidden and awkward looking like it would be if it went to the left
I used to paint all my vinyl banners with vinyl silkscreening ink diluted with lacquer thinner... Its a little hard on the quills, but...
Oh, and 3" rollers for covering large areas and filling in large letters...
This has not been my experience, at all. We have a 5' x 10' work table with a 5' x 10' mat on it -- I've never found it to be a problem when squeegeeing anything. Make sure you get one with a grid on it -- you'll find the grid indispensable after a while. Our previous one lasted about 5 years...
