I don't know what I would do without Signs101, its nice to be able to talk to people that have ran these printers a lot more than me. I do hope HP is seeing this, because I am now questioning whether I will buy a new HP when the time comes. I love the technology and the printer (well, when it's...
I ordered the "cable plate bundle" from HP last night. HP isn't the best at showing exactly what you are buying, but from what I could gather this is the lid to the printhead area along with all the ribbon cables. Am I on the right track replacing that?
So the problem showed back up tonight. The printer has been doing great, and then I fired it up tonight to run a job and got the "replace printhead" message. It showed the same #3 YK printhead that gave me trouble last time, so I pulled it and inserted it with pressure on the top of the carriage...
I don't do full wraps, just emergency vehicle lettering and striping. The templates work great for me to be able to quickly put together a concept either to visualize it or for the customer's approval. I always measure the actual vehicle myself prior to printing and cutting though.
I have one of the small US cutter laminators that I use to laminate my Edge prints. I think it's called the little Lightning Lam? It's a 25" model and works excellent for smaller stuff.
Has anyone found a template for the new 2017 Superduty? I normally use Art Station but they don't have it yet and Ford has completely re-engineered the new Superduty so a 2016 template isn't even close.
I contacted Mr. Crowley, who is the president of Real Gold and asked what his thoughts were on edge sealing. He said that none of the Real Gold products require edge sealing, but his only concern would be firemen with high speed buffers doing damage to the graphics. I am also a fireman, and I...
I'm running an old dinosaur L25500 and regularly get compliments from customers on how good my prints look. I mostly run 12 pass 600 dpi too, so nothing crazy there. I'm very happy with the latex, and I'm very particular about my work.
You are definitely right, I am all about quality and I completely agree with you on the gold vinyls. There is only one real gold leaf, and that is real hand laid gold leaf. But unfortunately I would be out of business if I refused to do anything except real gold. I've noticed that real gold leaf...
Several months ago when I was placing an order with Real Gold they told me their materials no longer require edge sealing. I verified this later when I was placing another order just to make sure the warranty is still valid without the edge sealing. I just don't know how I feel about it...
I also use 3M, but I use the 8518 which is the gloss. Either one should work well. Are you matching the graphics that are in that photo? If so, that is not Sign Gold, that is hand laid vinyl encapsulated gold and white gold.
I purchased a CE5000-120 a while back thinking I was getting a good cutter for a good deal. When I first set it up I had a lot of problems trying to get it to read registration marks and then I had an issue trying to update the firmware, so I just gave up on it for the time being and went back...
I just noticed on their website that the material has a 3 year exterior life, even though they call it "durable". I don't plan to use it for exterior signage, but I was wanting to use it for vehicle graphics. I wonder how it would hold up on a fire truck if it was laminated with a good cast...
Has anyone printed on the VinylEFX outdoor durable "printable" matte silver? It looks like you could produce some neat effects with it, and they claim it is printable even with latex. I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with it before I order a roll.
I print the ghost black graphics on both my Edge and my L25500. Judging by the picture that was posted, I'm leaning towards a solvent/latex print of gold over 3M black reflective. That combination would give that "blotchy" look.
I do a lot of "ghosted" reflective. There are different ways to get different effects. Looking at the picture, it almost looks like black reflective that reflects gold. I believe Nikkalite is the one that looks gold. But if not, think about it the opposite way. Instead of trying to print black...
