  1. Routing sandwiched Arcylic and ACM

Interesting. I'm not a CNC guy (I only use an EGX on occasion for ADA), but could you run it with multiple passes using 2 different bits -- 1 for acrylic, and 1 for aluminum?
  2. VJ 1614 Firmware

Give Fellers tech support a call. Doug should be able to find a copy for ya. 918-621-4412 ext. 3120
  3. Good source for large work tables?

Check out https://www.phillocraft.com/production-tables They specialize in industrial tables and have quite a few options avaialble. I'm getting one with a blower motor kit for my sewing/finishing table. Not sure if they sell directly -- I'm buying it from City Sewing in Dallas.
  4. Adding ecommerce

One of the biggest challenges I found when working with these w2p platforms / testing 3rd party apps / building my own platform / etc. .. was the lack of support for AI/EPS/PDF file uploads that customers often provide. In some cases I found that these apps would simply convert the vector file...
  5. Adding ecommerce

Actually, you can do most of these things with WooCommerce and some specific WC plugins. I use WooCommerce Measurement Price Calculator, Gravity Forms + GravityFlow, IgniteWoo Manual Phone Orders (which includes automatic and manual invoicing), multiple payment gateways including credit cards...
  6. Looking for a "good" X-Acto knife?

Ya, those are good. The Japanese blue/black spring steel blades are crazy sharp and hold their edge like no other -- but I mostly use the Olfa SAC-1 w/ 30 degree blade since it's so slim/portable.
  7. Question How to make a sale?

Google My Business is free (like Yelp, but with a much larger audience). Just sign up, create your profile and kindly ask your best (most satisfied) clients to leave a review for you. Over time it will make a huge difference. Of course, you always have the option of using their paid ad system...
  8. Does anyone know what type of Vinyl is used for Roommates and Fathead Wall Stickers?

Yeah, you can definitely print on it -- I just recall having some print issues due to smudges, fingerprints and other stuff that can happen to cut vinyl during mfg. (since it isn't usually handled with gloves at the factory)
  9. Merry Christmas! I finally bought a printer

My guess is he doesn't like dealing with the polyester liner. :P
  10. Does anyone know what type of Vinyl is used for Roommates and Fathead Wall Stickers?

651 is primarily for cut vinyl applications, but you can certainly print on it. (Technically, Orafol has it spec'd for thermal transfer printing - so your mileage may vary with solvent/latex/UV). My favorite is General Formulations (I stock 4 different series from them) -- very consistent...
  11. Illustrator problem when saving a vector to EPS

Just export everything to high quality PDFs or high res TIFs (TIFs are great for solving a lot of issues when special effects are involved -- gradients, shadows, transparencies, clipping masks, etc). Most of the time I print directly from AIs (I use Adobe CC and Caldera), or a TIF if the...
  12. Illustrator problem when saving a vector to EPS

EPS isn't a good file format for gradients (the export will try to create a ton of thin lines to replicate the effect -- a very scuffed operation). A high quality PDF would be preferred in this case -- or a high res TIF.
  13. Anybody with DIY media basket or a cheap one for sale?

Thanks! I modeled it from Graphtec's older designs. Quick tip: If you use the same materials I did... maybe do away with the rubber grommets so the rods will slide in/out more easily. Mine were a little snug so I had to keep them greased.
  14. Help with a font look in illustrator

Yep, you can do all of this inside of Illustrator as Bobby mentioned. Plenty of tutorials online for this sort of thing. Examples from a quick Google search: https://design.tutsplus.com/articles/100-best-illustrator-text-effect-tutorials-for-beginners-beyond--cms-35177 Personally -- I do a lot...
  15. Anybody with DIY media basket or a cheap one for sale?

This is what I made for my Graphtec plotter about 9 years ago: - metal conduit (shaped with pipe bender), rubber grommets / end caps from Lowe's - custom plastic bracket (black engraved acrylic + heat gun for bending) - a few yards of fabric from Hobby Lobby, stitched on my sewing machine (w/...
  16. Plastic license plates

This info may/may not be useful, but a long time ago I outsourced a laser cut license plate job to a shop in FL. 3 color design (black, orange, and clear) on a mirror background. Qty 50 pcs @ about $15/ea. They did a fantastic job, and they were quick! laserautotags.com
  17. Grommet Sources.... Death Valley

Ah, that sucks. Well, maybe you could call around to some of the B2B flag / pennant companies and see if they're willing to part with some? Rainbow Pennant comes to mind (I know they buy their grommets 4 or 5 barrels at a time).
  18. Installer in OK City

I'm about an hour away from OKC, so it's probably not worth the trip charge -- but you might hit up some of the bigger sign shops around OKC / Edmond to see if they have someone available. The only installers in the OKC area that I know (and use) are booked through early/mid January.
  19. Grommet Sources.... Death Valley

Did you call Stimpson directly? Even if they don't have any in stock, they might be able to point you toward one of their distributors that does. Or check one of the merchants on Google Shopping...
