Hi guys,
I've printed a lot of things over the years, but haven't seen this issue before. Check out the "droplet artifacts" in the pictures (all part of the same print). 18x24 yard sign, printed on IJ-35. The entire job was for 40 signs with about 30 masters, and there were a lot of busy...
Most likely it's going to be faster and easier to do it the old fashioned way. Use a manual rotary/slide cutter to separate them, then use a corner rounding tool to finish them off. Maybe you can corner round a stack of 4 or 5 at a time? It shouldn't be too bad.
But if you really want to use...
Group the artwork. Draw 3 rectangles and place them on top of your artwork (including your 1" overlaps). Select the top rectangle and the artwork together and create clipping mask. Duplicate that group and set it aside for later. Unmask the first section, then rinse and repeat with the...
Here's a photo of the decals after the first day of production. (There were many, many more stacks just like these) -- and 1 more photo showing what the spreadsheet format looked like.

Well, I say easy -- I am rather savvy when it comes to Illustrator and writing or modifying scripts to streamline the production workflow -- not that custom coding is necessary -- it just means I was able to navigate and set things up faster than most because I've worked with...
Definitely check out Adobe's XML Variable Data feature. It doesn't cost anything to set up (plenty of free online CSV to Adobe XML converters), and with a little bit of research via Google, you can perform this task very easily, and export each layout as it's own PDF and much more.
A few years...
Creating a tiling pattern in AI is pretty easy. Personally I like the cValley FilterIt warping tool because it has so many adjustable options. Illustrator + cValley = easy to create wave patterns. (FilterIt only works with vector, of course). cValley has a fully functioning 15 day trial...
There are quite a few programs that do this already (including many free ones). Try PrimoPDF Nitro's free PDF creator: PrimoPDF
What it does is add a new printer driver to your computer. Open your PDF using Adobe Reader, then print to PrimoPDF like it's a printer. It will ask you where and...
All design work is done in Adobe Illustrator CC (with a wide array of Astute Graphics and other custom built scripts). Never did like designing in Flexi, even though I've been using Flexi-Pro ever since v7 (now up to v12) -- $4,300 + $600 per upgrade. The interface always felt archaic and...
Contact a substrate manufacturer directly (depending on which material you want to use) and ask them for a custom quote. For example, corrugated plastic is an extruded product. The manufacturer can cut any length they want, and trim the width to size. Should be very cost-effective (not much...
By the way, if you have a long production table where you have the ability to pull the print as it comes out of the laminator, it will help a lot with tracking. I did not have this option previously because I was using self-built wooden production tables (about 6" taller than the laminator...
I bought a cheap 65" laminator on eBay about 5 years ago. About $2.1k including shipping (I think it's a rebranded US Tech). It works fine for short runs, but I have 2 major complaints about cheap laminators:
Independent cranks on each side: Most of these units have 2 cranks instead of 1, so...
I've owned a number of Graphtecs (FC to CE series) over the past 15 years. Now I have Summa S2T160 model (been using it for about 3 years). There's no such thing as a perfect plotter, however, the Summa is the best I've used. Of course -- just like any other machine in your shop -- the...
