Today I had a "same day" rush order for (9) double-sided banners. Wasn't sure if I had enough material in stock or not, but I knew it was gonna be super close. Ended up having 1" to spare... just barely enough for the pinch rollers to hang onto. Talk about a relief! Whew!
Yes yes... but look on the bright side. Maybe this job didn't go so smoothly for your competitor either. Sign shop received a deposit, did the job and the customer saw the appearance at night. The customer refuses to pay the balance until the sign is re-done to their satisfaction (which could...
I would guess that any company making perf also makes regular films using the same formulation. And if so, maybe you could contact the manufacturer and get a few yards for profiling. (That's what I would try.)
Maybe someone didn't pay their freight bills. I asked ProEdge to ship using my FedEx account in the past, and they were quick to say that could only ship by UPS. Have you ever noticed their inflated shipping rates? Perhaps someone at their company treated it as a profit center, got behind on...
Wow, that sucks. They didn't even bother to send out an email to their existing customers. Guess I'd better take extra good care of those trimmer blades since I won't be able to get replacements. (I own one of their expensive trim cutters. Spent nearly $2k on that order, including an extra...
My Mutoh 1614 has been going strong since day one (purchased in 2008). Never had to replace anything except the CR motor (a few months ago). Print quality is stellar (I create new ICC profiles every year or two). Nozzle check is nearly perfect. The only thing this machine gets is new ink...
Out of 3 rental companies, only one place had a forklift, and it had the short forks. This wasn't going to work at the short end of a 1,700 RollsRoller crate. So I had a local fabricator weld up a steel A-frame with scrap material (not pictured), same height as the truck bed. Used the...
In case anyone is wondering -- the Impulsa Synchromatic machine+table combo is the really expensive one I was referring to. Not that I would suggest that for anyone else -- but I would love to get one of these: Talk about full-featured!
Dual feed? Is that the pinch roller behind the machine? I totally forgot about that. I've only used walking foot, but the rear pinch roller thing could help keep those seams straight. I'm about to buy a new (or possibly a very nice used) machine. Money is almost no object (seeing as I was...
That's what it looks like. 2 rows of a double-hem. Probably just adjusting the side stop after the first pass.
Speed is never a problem with sewing machines. If anything, they need to be throttled (you'll get used to it -- but if multiple people are on the machine -- it's best to change the...
Thanks for reminding me. I just now started the hunt for a new sewing machine. Gonna replace my older -- but still great -- (2) Singers and (1) Mitsubishi with a new electronic Juki (w/ servo motor, U bobbins, and auto-cut). Sewing is the only way to go IMO.
Sorry I can't give you my supplier for the nylon webbing and stuff. I just buy the leftover "scraps" (i.e., 300ft, 800ft, etc.) from a mil-spec textile manufacturer that would otherwise require a 50,000 yard minimum order. I get a great deal on it, but there's barely enough scrap for 1 sign...
Here's a quick example of a small banner job from last week: 18oz blockout w/ 1" preshrunk nylon webbing & mil spec D Rings. It took me about 15 minutes to finish (as opposed to 5 minutes for a regular banner). Reinforced banners take a bit more effort to finish and 18oz banner costs more...
Yip. That was the first place I tried. (just to get the blanks out of it -- then I was going to add the vinyl myself) -- but S365 won't cut anything that small (order was rejected by their production dept.)
This job requires the exact same opaque film that was used on all of their other signs...
Hi guys,
I need to provide 47 small aluminum signs for a client, but I can't do the entire job in-house (at least not very easily). Given my current workload, I'd rather just farm out the whole thing. The catch is that most (CNC-capable) suppliers won't CNC anything smaller than 6", and none...
There's an easy way around that. Set up your own phone system. 3CX software (free version of 3CX supports up to 16 simultaneous calls) which you can host in-house or on a cheap droplet at Digital Ocean. (It will take a week or two for your SysAdmin to get it set up for you,. and to buy a...
