  1. Vinyl Recommendation

I can't entirely disagree with you, but I see people run right to cast films when concerned about adhesion or durability. While you can't go wrong with using a cast vinyl and laminate on a window, you are also spending hundreds more (at least double) than needed. A good polymeric vinyl will...
  2. Colorado 1650 Printhead Cost

That's amazing. Nice work! I'm surprised the Canon tech would install them.
  3. Shorter term options - exterior window film (real estate FOR LEASE type film)

Use Drytac's Polar Smooth 150 Air....it is thick...STUPID easy to apply, has air-egress, and will remove cleanly. As noted above, you can also apply it in crazy cold temps if required.
  4. Discussion Convince me not to buy a Colorado...

If you think the Colorado is too much of a work horse (and it is), then take a look at the Roland XP 640. You can load it up with two rows of CMYK for awesome speed....6 pass on banner is going to be in the 350sf/hour (sorry for being a dumb American...I think that is something like 30m2/hr)...
  5. Roland tech and Roland dealer in my area

Tyrell Tech has an office in Orlando. High quality work and people.
  6. Colorado 1650 Printhead Cost

The actual price for the heads is $5720. It keeps creeping up every few months. If a tech told you there were $1000 then he is drinking on the job. Since Canon makes the heads, I'm amazed you found some on ebay. I'll be interested to hear how that plays out.
  7. Canon Colorado M Series.

I go in and out of grand format shops every day. So many 10' printers running 54 media all day, every day.
  8. Clear Adhesive Vinyl for Wall Graphic

REtac Clear is a great product. Easy to apply and will remove cleanly off of a primed and painted wall even years after application. I can send you some pricing or a sample roll...if you want a test roll they just ask you provide a UPS or FedEx number to cover the few bucks for freight.
  9. Window Perf, Briteline?

You don't have to use a house brand. Continental Grafix is a manufacturer and their Panorama One is priced better than most 'house brands'. I'd happily quote you some of their product to show you the value. for the most part, I can sell a 164' roll of their product for around the same price...
  10. Has busy melowed out and if so, does spring time bring sales back up?

The vast majority of the customers I visited in January were DEAD. Sitting on their hands dead. Spent more time reorganizing and cleaning than they did printing. Someone told me years ago, and I believe it, that our industry does well when the economy is good and when the economy is bad...
  11. laminating experience, different methods actually used by members. mono print with poly lam?

While I cannot vouch as a "printer" I can tell you that you are on the right path. I'd suggest, though, using a polymeric vinyl. While it is more expensive, you'll rest a lot easier knowing you have a better film stuck to that van. Drytac makes great stuff and obviously has a huge presence in...
  12. Could not be more dissappointed in LEXJET

send me your contact information and we'll see if we can set something up. Mark@HascoGraphics.com
  13. Printer and/or more for high-end custom packaging

You should look into the Roland CO "object" printers. They can print on flat and odd shaped substrates. Have an expanded color gamut using orange, red, and green. Two sizes: 64"x98" and 30"x60" (which sounds like it would work for you. The larger unit is only $75K++ and the smaller unit is...
  14. Economical repositioning film

If the doors are flat, run with Retac from Drytac. easy to apply and remove - no residue. 6mils thick.
  15. Temporary Floor vinyl

I've got a few customers who burn through Spot On Floor and the regular Spot On. I definitely feel much better about the floor version. A drunk monkey could apply the vinyl without wrinkles or bubbles and it will pull up without leaving residue behind (unless you leave it there for months)...
  16. HP White Option

If you have the volume, the Colorado in the M3W build would be dramatically faster than the latex device. While it comes at a cost, it is several times faster with less expensive ink. The cool part is if your demand grows, you could upgrade the unit to a M5W and get more speed and production.
  17. HP White Option

Do you do enough volume to consider a flatbed and just printing directly to the acrylic?
  18. OH Flatbed Printing on Wood - Fluid Color Webinar

On January 30th at 1:00pm EST Fluid Color is hosting a webinar about printing on different types of wood (raw, mdf, premade etc) with their flatbed printers. Should be short and informative. They have a great webinar studio so the video and sound should be great. Follow this link if you want...
