The rear part of the maintenance unit is screwed to an angled bracket. Undo the 2 screws holding that bracket to the mounting plate and the whole assembly can be taken out. Then you can unscrew the screws from underneath.

  8. VJ1614 Dampener Half Full?

Is this problem occurring only on one particular Cyan channel or on both? If always on the same channel, the problem might be on the head's ink manifold. The nipple, where the damper sits, could be partially blocked or even be damaged, possibly a hairline crack or something.

  13. mutoh vj 1204 dampers

Yes, it has 2 locating pins and 4 locking tabs that just click in place, no screws. For easier removal, unscrew the clamp that holds down the ink tubes on the CR Sub-board. This would free up the ink tubes to give you more space to wiggle it out.

This is an old printer and I am not sure which hidden menu sets the machine size but you can try switching the printer off the press and hold down both the Up and Down buttons as you switch the printer on. If that is not the correct menu, try holding down the Cancel button as you switch the...

The first generation VJ-1608 introduced in Australia did not have heated air.
  20. 1204 Waste Pads

I have customers using rolled tissue paper or paper kitchen towels, this is just to prevent the ink from sloshing about in the waste ink tray. You will need to empty the tray more often in this case.
