Interesting, so they actually do have a moving part of sorts if there is some kind of a diaphragm that is expanding and contracting. I suppose if that diaphragm fails you could have a real mess on your hands.
I've had this issue before. What happens is while the head is soaking some of the different colors of ink will siphon into the other channels. I use a "printer workout" page for that where I just print very large blocks of the pure 4 color inks. That flushes out whatever got siphoned into the...
Filters right at the head sounds like a good idea. Sort of like a fuel filter for a vehicle. I read somewhere that they recommend replacing the dampers after a certain period of time, but wouldn't it make more sense to base the maintenance on usage rather than time? There is going to be a big...
It's just a basic question about what they are supposed to do. I am curious to know the function or purpose for the dampers that sit above the print head, and why they would need to be changed a regular intervals? They look like little tanks with baffles and don't appear to have any moving parts...
I may end up replacing the head on this printer. I found a company by the name of DutaPrint in Japan that supposedly sells the DX5 DF-49684 head for the VJ-1204 for $205 dollars plus $25 bucks for tax, shipping and insurance. I checked with them to see if the price was a typo but they said it's...
I guess it's counterproductive for a printer manufacturers to design the machine to automatically circulate a small amount of ink through the nozzles at regular intervals even when it's off. It would be nice to be able to take off on a three or four week vacation and not have to worry about...
I've been a slave to my Mutoh printer for 8 long years, having to run a cleaning once a week to prevent the print head from clogging up. Is there anyone that makes a wide format printer of any type that is designed to sit idle for any length of time without causing some kind of harm or damage...
It may be a blessing in disguise. I have been a slave to this printer for years having to schedule my life around being here once a week to run the cleaning. I would have never bought the thing if they had told me I could not let it sit idle for any length of time without ruining the print head...
I purchased the printer in 2012, but I am just a hobby printer. I've done very little printing with it and what little I've done barely paid for the materials I used up in the process. I've probably used more ink doing the weekly cleaning needed to keep the print head from clogging up than I've...
OK, I got my replacement camera cable, here are a couple of photos. In one you can clearly see how the blues are streaking out of the letters, but reds seem to be fine. In the other you can see the wide bands of blue shading. It's hardly noticeable but there should not be anything there except...
I am starting to get some strange output from my printer. Almost looks like some kind of over spray making wide bands of just wisp of a shadow. Is there any place that has sample pictures of unusual outputs to compare with as a diagnostic tool?
I messed it up good. I started fooling around with the license manager and somehow managed to associate it with the dongle, but now if I try to undo it the manage wants to remove the dongle license completely off the computer. I may just abandon the older version an try to migrate the settings...
Well, I do have a dongle for the later versions, but I do seem to recall needing to be connected to the Internet for the Cloud version to phone home for verification. I thought I tried it while connected but maybe I should try again.
I think it's v 11.1987
I have several versions of Flexi Sign on my computer. It's easier to keep the old version running than it is to try to transfer the configurations to the newer versions.
I went to start the earliest version of Flexi Cloud I have installed and it won't start. When I double click the icon I get...
Good Reds
I had a hell of a time getting good reds out of my Mutoh printer. I ended up printing the CYMK chart built into Flexi then I use the color squares to determine the values to use in my work. It matters not how it looks on the screen because I know the values I specify will produce the...
Clarification
I should clarify my post. You can install this upgrade just for the sake of playing around with it because it does leave your existing version completely untouched. I should also tell you any files you create with the Cloud version are not compatible with previous versions, or at...
I installed the update but I'm very disappointed. I thought it would just upgrade my existing 10.5 but instead it installs as a separate new program. This means it's like installing Flexi for the first time and having to set up all your customization from scratch, redoing all the settings you...
A-B Switches
I did the A-B switch thing on my hobby computers. I have one machine dedicated to video editing and then another computer as a dedicated multi-track audio recorder-editor. I bought a single A-B-C-D switch and cables from Altex in Texas that has the inputs and outputs for the...
