  1. Who wants to help.................................................................

Jumped over to the Corel Community forum and asked a friend of mine who often posts about the incompatibility between AMD and CorelDraw. I, myself, haven't any experience with it. We've always had NVidia here at work, as well as, on all my personal pc's. Here's his reply. "Myron I wish I could...
  2. Who wants to help.................................................................

I personally would stay away from AMD. There are some design software (CorelDRAW) that doesn't work well together.
  3. Font Help

Might try a form of Zing Rust or Zing Rust Rust Demo Base
  4. What resolution is everyone printing at

Right you are. Our print tech has just relied on the "canned" profiles available for the type of media. He has only tweaked a few and gave them unique names.
  5. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

    Me, a professional. :roflmao:
  6. What resolution is everyone printing at

Latex HP's here. I'm not the print tech but I know our standard is 8pass. We have certain clients who are very particular of their branding colors, as they should be, so sometimes in order to hit that we have to bump up passes but rarely above 12. Interesting too that pantone colors print closer...
  7. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

    Unprofessional not to.
  8. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

Shouldn't be any white around the edge if set up correctly and pull away the out ring as described.
  9. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

Most times we'll cut twice but in a different way than described here. First cut to just cut the vinyl, 2nd cut is offset slightly larger and set to "punch-cut" aka Half Cut. Wouldn't want to do it this way for any run more than, say, 50 though. lol Then go back and pull off the outer "ring"
  10. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

Yeah, thanks, kinda figured that part out. Also figured out that the blue anchor points are part of guides. I can marquee select those anchor points and delete 'em but still doesn't make a difference when saving as pdf. Only if I copy and paste to a new doc.
  11. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

I think you're right, Doc. lol Maybe it wasn't designed in illy. Something definitely "wonky" in the file. If I go ctrl+a (select all) it says 227.5417w x 227.5417h. If I marquee select just the artwork it says 96.5178w x 34.5052h. So I copy, create a new doc at 97w x 35h then paste, then save...
  12. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

I appreciate the input. I've tried this and several other things but always comes out the same way. I'm opening the pdf in illustrator and then save as pdf trying a different setting each time to no avail. The kicker is that if I start from a new doc and create several small rectangles with drop...
  13. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

3rd party illustrator file given as pdf. 3'h x 8'w with 975 blades of grass along the bottom at approx 2"h, each with its own drop shadow. The pdf reads each of those drop shadows as the full 3x8 @ 300 dpi. This actually "bloats" the file. Why are they not just slightly larger than the blades of...
  14. What is wrong with this pdf...........................................................................

Used a combination of illustrator and X7. Crashed corel a few times. Opened in illy & deleted the clipping masks (taking note of the size first), outlined the fonts then united all the text. Saving as as "stripped & fixed" pdf, imported to corel, added the rectangle shape then save as pdf. 10...
  15. Wanting Design Software recommendations....!

Corel is a whole lot faster for sign layouts than illustrator imo. I've been studying Illustrator here recently and can't believe it can't do the simplest things out-of-the box like corel. 1. can't invert/mirror without creating an action or digging into a dialogue 2. can't join two lines of...
  16. Nesting plug-in for illustrator

Use corelDRAW. I created my own macro to get me what I need. Typically 18x24 coros in a 10-Up configuration for printing to 4x8 sheets of coro. Corel's step and repeat option doesn't work that great. Have many others too. Trying to create a similar function for illy using an action but....
  17. trying to become better acquainted with illustrator, got a few questions

Thanks, I'm slowly learning some things but really have to dig to find what I need to know. When the military dropped me in front of a pc with Corel I was able to pick it up and run with it without tutorials or anything. I absolutely knew nothing about computers or let alone digital design at...
  18. trying to become better acquainted with illustrator, got a few questions

Is it possible to set the default alignment from "Align to Selection" to "Align to Key Object"? p.s. no keyboard shortcuts for alignment?
  19. trying to become better acquainted with illustrator, got a few questions

Too all, I will continue to use Corel as my "go to" but we also must have illustrator and since most jobs require some knowledge I just thought I'd at least try and learn a bit more. I've had illustrator for over 25 and many times tried to learn it but end up frustrated. I thought if only I...

to link or not to link. Figured it out. I didn't uncheck link when placing the image. Hope it stays that way like forever. lol
