  1. Applying Window Cling To 18oz Banner

Sounds like he's doing what he's told and neither his boss or the customer want to hear different. So good for him, he got it done the way they want. Maybe now they'' get why it's stupid

  5. Idea for a new thread......................................................................

I started with the local sign guy in '73, then went to Butera Sign School in Boston. Hardly use my brush kit anymore except for gilding. I was just telling somebody how I decided to learn carving in the 80s because "they'll never replace that with a machine" :roflmao:
  6. Edge print from '05

Yea, we did some crazy big jobs with the Edge, including partial wraps on some busses. Best machine I ever bought
  7. To print or not to print

I've been doing this long enough to go from paint to vinyl to digital and I can't believe I now advocate for "old fashioned" cut vinyl when ever possible if it's a long term out door job. Most of my vehicle clients have come to expect 5-10 years from a lettering job.
  8. Need Help Police car graphics

Nope, you are over your head and besides looking bad it will be an expensive lesson. These are almost always done with reflective vinyl which is $$$ and harder to work with. We do lots of this stuff and if my best repeat customer told me Friday to match a new design and have it ready to go on...
  9. Disposal of old panels

Unless it's an unusual item it's included. Aluminum is recycled. Steel is left out for the scrappers. Everything else (including ACM which isn't recyclable here) is cut up and tossed in dumpster
  10. First Signcraft magazine

It was so great when that came out, Signs Of The Times had become a "corporate" sign mag and SignCradt was about small shops making great signs.
  11. Suggestions Oh boy..........................

wow, I get why you're reprinting and I would do the same. Too bad she's not a real restaurant, it'd be great to get a huge catered order for the shop and then refuse to pay because it wasn't exactly right. "These tacos don't look like the picture on the menu" Of course you could always drop a...
  12. Suggestions Oh boy..........................

PITA I know the type. I would probably redo and never let them darken my door again
  13. Huge Mistake, vinyl on paint

Go with your own suggestion to trace the vinyl lettering that is already on there then peel it and handletter. I would use the same paint. It will take a couple coats and it's a bitch to letter with latex but it can be done, I know I lettered a few signs with latex paints when I was in an area...
  14. Change of Business name.

Keep it simple and with nothing gimmicky, current pop culture or personal names.
  15. BIG ONE

    Thanks SignRex!
  16. Credit Cards

No. I will give a discount for cash, but not extra for a card. It's a part of the cost of doing business. I hate places that do, even more when its one of those that gets charged to your account. I do understand limits though, like equipment purchases.
  17. BIG ONE

Anyone recognize this one? I thought I had a few close but none that had both the heavy thick/thin and the little serifs Thanks
  18. 48" Tall Letter Installation on glass

What does "facing outside" mean? Letters installed on the outside of the glass or applied reverse to the inside?
  19. Lettering ski lift structures

Yep, I'd use 3M or Arlon cast. cut vinyl.
  20. Metallized chrome border on printed vinyl
