Sure, cut the letters, roll the faces red, install with thru the face screws with blocks of pvc to offset.
Might not save any money but the material will be reused and the customer will be happy.
"they're not small, neither wholesalers", so you are buying from large format printers/sign shops that aren't in the wholesale business?
That's the issue, they aren't interested in your business all that much and when they are working on their own projects that don't have time to deal with you...
Hi Bill, I'd be interested if it could be safely shipped. As I recall there is some bracket you have to use to ship an edge to lock the head or something like that
We did a big project last year replacing existing banners and adding new ones in a high school gym These were wall mounted. They wanted to get away from the banner look so we went with PVC. Looked great.
Either wrap or paint. Either way it's not cheap or easy, but the right design will make it lees painful. For instance a nice sky full of clouds with a few vintage planes. Actually a hybrid design, paint a cloud mural and add some vinyl print planes
Yep, we still get this spec too. The only part we follow is the 3/4" MDO substrate. Other than that we may do a full print, or vinyl letters. If it's a private contractor that's been handed those specs thye'll usually opt for a ACM sign
Are you selling hand painted signs, or signs that you hand paint? If your market is to the people who want a handcrafted product and value the skill involved you should be charging a premium
price. I don't see a way to make that into a price chart, too many variables. Time, materials & overhead...
We ran into that when re-skinning and old sign that turned out to have been re-skinned once already over porcelain. We would whack it first with a nail punch, still went through a lot of bits
