I had two Mimaki’s so far, the CJV130 and the JV150-160. Heads are crazy expensive. Next machine I will go with Epson. Technology is newer and just by looking at the machines they also seem better built.
Oralite 5650RA. Thin and lightweight. Pulls thru cutters easily when cutting even with laminate. And the greatest feature over ALL other printable reflectives is that it’s 54”!!!!! You can use your standard sized laminate and make things that much larger. I do between 20-30 ambulances a yr...
Never cut 1/2” acrylic but I know they have special blades to cut that. If your budget is low, get a track saw. Festool is German made, at least May saw is. It’s very versatile and mobile. And there are so many accessories you can buy like the MFT table.
Never cut 1/2” thick acrylic. Usually 1/8” to 1/4”. Don’t remember the blade I used but I’d you check the Festool site there might be blades recommended for different materials. My saw and a 4’ track was $650. Can set it up to work outside on a nice day too! A very accurate saw.
TS55. I think the model number has changed today. I like it because to rip a 4x8 sheet on a panel saw you need 16’ of floor space. With a track saw you can easily do that on a 4x8 table.
I was told by Cadlink to get the Nix tool to match colors. I bought the Nix Pro and it gives all kinds of paint and vinyl colors and LAB colors but I cannot get it to work with my JV150 and from what your saying I would need to profile my profile my printer which I have never done nor know how...
I have seen this too. I have a JV150. It only does this I think for about the first foot of print. I tried lowering the wheels very slowly but the initial contact from the wheels leaves a dent in the vinyl and as far as I know, there are no pinch wheel pressure settings like I had on my...
I will Ask about this. They never offered this to me, nor did I ask. I also saw somewhere that Mimaki had discontinued support for this printer as it’s been discontinued. I do like newer and better technology but prefer to stay with the brand I know. The learning curve is not steep.
I currently have a Mimaki JV150-160. Previous to that I also had a Mimaki CJV-130. Had a little strike and jets are firing about 50%-%70. Not very knowledgeable about cleaning heads,
just do the cleaning cycles and stuff. Looked into changing the head myself. Also looking into possibly...
I know 99% of things today are made in China. I did look at the Chinese laminators. They look nice and the prices are very reasonable. But how long will they last? And will they be trouble free and will they give you support, will parts be readily available? More to consider than price...
