  1. UV Primer tips and tricks?

Don't know if this will help with a primer issue, but. Iso has no inert ingredients other than distilled water, 100% Iso doesn't even have that, so it leaves nothing on the surface. Best practice is to wipe it wet to loosen contaminates, followed by a dry towel, wiping till it's dry, that way...
  2. Retail Sign Frames

Snap frames. They come in a variety of sizes, frame styles, colors, available in plastic or aluminum. You can buy them ready to go, or just buy the snap rails/ corners and custom make them. The sides are hinged and spring loaded, to change graphics you just open the frame, insert a new one, and...
  3. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

I have a Piggly Wiggly 1/2 block away. Oh, it was... I make them maybe once a month or so. Not something you'd wanna eat every day if you want yer' heart to keep beating, but ya' can't beat them when you're craving an awesome greasy treat. Everyone I've ever made them for wants me to open a...
  4. Canva

This I agree with 100%. The person and experience makes the difference, nothing else. I use Macs, I use PC's, neither has any real advantage over the other anymore, one just costs way more. I can work in Adobe, Corel, Inkscape, right now I use Affinity, and I can get the same results from any.
  5. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Couldn't take it, needed a greasy burger tonight, kicked mama out of the kitchen and... Almost dropped some onion rings in the fryer for them too, but made a lot of onions already. Two 1/4 pound-ish (+) patties, lots of cheese, caramelized onions, my own sauce, on toasted brioche buns, with...
  6. Canva

Exactly!!!! And, and when it's localized, if any one of them gets a bad quality reputation, or starts ripping people off, others will suffer too. Same image, must be same company or owners.
  7. Canva

My question to them is always "how many other companies do you think are using that same exact file from Canva's library?". Only a designer can create something unique, and distinctive to represent a brand, not an open source clipart library with thousands of wannabe's creating logos every...
  8. Material must be tamper-proof. Decals must include a die-cut self-destruction feature that prevents removal in one piece from the surface in which it

If they want basic security vinyl, the Oracal 820 Safety Vinyl breaks into little pieces when you try to remove it once it's laid. Have used it, good stuff, runs around a grand for a std size (55" x 50yd) roll. You can laminate it if the application calls for it, but do some tests if you plan...
  9. Need Help OEM Challenger Racing Stripes

Good for you! OEM's are nice, when you can find them, basically because they're the right shape already, but usually you can't. Paying OEM and dealership markup prices is costly, ordering on line, you often don't get the right ones, or OEM. Unless it's a fairly late model or new, they've...
  10. Need Help "position invalid, out of range" error - any solutions?

Does that model use a cable, or belt? Been a minute since I did anything Roland. On an SC unit I had years ago, I chased my tail for a while on an issue similar to that, started with the same scan motor code, went down the same rabbit hole. Was ready to toss it out in the parking lot & use it...
  11. I'm no wrapper...big old FAIL

Personally, I don't like the black, that blue stands out so nice on the plain white by itself.
  12. Need Help OEM Challenger Racing Stripes

I grew up in a body shop, used tools as teething toys, even had my own shop for a while. Since the day vinyl striping first hit the scene, it's always been hit or miss to match. Even OEM stripes didn't match once a car was a couple years old, always a touch of fading to the original. Quite often...
  13. Garage Decal material

You may get so many recommendations on different brands, your head will swim. Everyone has their favorites. You definitely want to laminate, unless it's a short term graphic. If the door has a factory finish, you should be ok, if it's been repainted do an adhesion test since a lot of paints...
  14. Need Help OEM Challenger Racing Stripes

Cool, would love seeing the finished results.
  15. Need Help OEM Challenger Racing Stripes

Good luck. Getting or matching factory stripes can be a real pain. The only OEM fascia stripes in that style still available from Mopar are the carbon fiber (they use a proprietary pattern, which is why they still offer it). The silver/ red is discontinued, and no longer available. Check with a...
  16. MIMAKI JV33-260 2X CMYK. LOOKING FOR ORANGE INK.

Happy to hear it works for someone, I've never had good results, especially with pure orange. Always faded out in exterior applications.
  17. MIMAKI JV33-260 2X CMYK. LOOKING FOR ORANGE INK.

There's not much you can do if the printer wasn't programmed to support it. If you do find a way, be aware that pure color inks like orange and red fade quick out in direct sunlight.
  18. Bubbling vinyl?

Could be just a bad wet install like Gino said. Or, take it a step further, if that black is an air release vinyl, and someone tried to install wet. Fluid works through the channels, pools where it ends up, gets crazy hot in the sun under the black, water turns to vapor, and makes big bubbles...
  19. One Way Vision (Laminated)

Laying dry with or without lam isn't that hard if you do it right, found a vid of how I do it to help visualize. Start it straight, work from top to bottom, pull the liner down as you go so you don't have all the adhesive exposed to grab where you don't want it to, before you want it to, makes...
  20. NEED HELP IN THE WORST WAY! XC540 Acting very weird!

Code 0106 can just be a limit initialize value lost, a fault in the tool carriage/ head carriage disconnect, or a backlash issue. If you heard a clunk when it happened, I'd focus on those components to see if something broke or skipped position. With this, also check the belt tension if the...
