Sorry I thought it was the later rockhopper with the dx4 heads. Your printer is real old school. Still looks like a head cable issue or maybe a faulty head board. SC

Is this a Rockhopper, Rockhopper II or Rockhopper III?

So if you put the black head on a different channel it will work? If you plug the two cables on the head the wrong way round it will fry the head. SC

Did you cross the cables over as this can destroy a head? Is it just that head that is doing this? Can you swap the cables over to check the head is working? It could be a dead head. SC

Re-seat head cable. Check that the head is pulling ink through. If no ink is pulled through check damper manifold and cap. SC

Fit a new head cable. This should be the issue. SC

Why don't you tell us what is up and maybe we could guide you on repairing it yourself? This will save $$$$ on a tech. Also this site is crammed full of info and fixes for the JV3 SC

If it is not a faulty damper, O ring seals or leaking pipework it might be a leaking manifold. As these use the very old Epson DX2 heads I do not have first hand knowledge of this. On a further note it could be a bad seal on the capping station. SC

You are not making much sense! If you are using an old head this may be also blocked. If the head is blocked it is very difficult to see if the pump is working. Or the pump could be blocked from not being used. I think the first thing you should be doing is checking the pump is pulling ink...

Yes you can set the adjustment up in the main menus. But most RIPs bypass the media settings (unless set not to) so using this to set up the adjustment will not work. Is your print test perfect as even with a couple of blocked nozzles on a bi-directional low resolution print you will get this. SC

I would also order some caps as the seals can go hard and the seal is the important part when trying to get it to pull ink through. Can you pull ink through the other colours with a syringe? SC

Is the pump pulling ink through? Are all the pipework properly connected? Do you have ink? Start with the simple stuff! SC
