The ram ended up costing $1200 or so. I was maxing out 64gig ram with large murals in photoshop. Now it uses 100gb ram pretty frequently. I'm a computer nerd too so I get to mix hobby/work with building fast computers
  5. File server question

Not much for a CPU to do in a NAS, most of the work is done by the RAID controller, cpu is there to run the UI and some apps. The file reading/writing is all handled by hardware

You should watch some LTT videos on computer builder comparisons and clueless buyer calling in experience, dell was one of the worse when it comes to calling in to buy a PC, get ready to be robbed on warranties and support packages

  8. File server question

The 2x LAN won't make the network faster, if you do some deep dive reading about link aggregation, it is more for redundancy than speed. I though I was going to use the 2x 1gb connections for speed but that is not what it is for. I added a 10gb card to my NAS, not sure if the one you are...
  9. UPS Shipping

Tell you UPS rep to match the shippingeasy rates, they can now do that, started a few months ago. By using your UPS account vs the shippingeasy one you will be able to get paid on claims very easy, it is the shipping easy UPS account that is making the claims hard. You can continue to use...
  10. File server question

Any slowdowns with a mid-high end NAS will be due to network and mechanical drives. Same issue a server or PC set up as a server would experience. SSD cache can greatly help and is easy to set up in NAS. NAS range in price from $100 - $2000+ (without drives price), obviously a cheap one wont be...
  11. Computer type

you are comparing a $1000 PC to a $2500 PC, like you said similar performance wise. would be stupid do pay 2.5x for it just because it is a "workstation"
  12. File server question

I use a Synology DS1621+ , it has 6 20TB drives set up to where any 2 can fail without data loss. I have a 10Gig Ethernet and files transfer at 400-500mb/sec from the NAS, very fast. At first I was using a 1gig Ethernet and it was slower compared to having files on PC so I made the expensive but...

  15. Discussion Slowing down or staying busy?

I'm curious with all the copyright talk on this form, where does a storefront like this fall on the copyright/trademark spectrum? Definitely great advertising as it gives an affiliated with astros vibe

gigapixel ai can work wonders sometimes
  17. Discussion Slowing down or staying busy?

I sell online marketplaces Amazon, Etsy, wayfair etc, my sales are slightly down in line with the slowdowns those marketplaces are reporting. Still good but down over last year compared to to Oct/Nov last year, overall this year is up over last year
  18. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

The ink price on the 1630 is higher and both printers will cost the same in the long run if you factor in ink price
  19. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

Do you use Onyx already? Most of the training is learning Onyx, the printer operation/maintenance is pretty easy. In the 2 days training I had I would say there was 2-3 hours of actual training with the rest of the time printing jobs Maybe they can do installation in a day now, my install...
  20. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

That's odd with the problems you're having. I'll develop slight banding every 2-3 months (more like a line of slightly different matte finish visible only at certain angles) and a media calibration gets rid of it right away
