A metal stencil that size will cost a ton. Sandblast it 1/4" deep and then use the torch. JB

  4. steel + waterjet = who does it?

If you're placing your signage on limestone caps, make sure you seal the limestone well to avoid streaking. JB
  5. steel + waterjet = who does it?

Go ahead and lightly sandblast your panels. Some sheet steel is pickled and oiled (P&O) and you may get uneven results otherwise. JB
  6. New Office Equipment - I'm in love...

I was at Goodwill today and picked up something called "The Wave" for five bucks. It's similar to a wobble board but it rocks in only one direction. I'm dubious of its purported cardio claims but I picked it up anyway to go with the Varidesk. It's built like a tank and made in the USA...
  7. New Office Equipment - I'm in love...

I looked at one at the office supply store last year and it seemed like they were asking around $400 at the time. Personally, I don't want to deal with one more thing that has a motor...or a cord. JB

At first, it oddly seemed like one of those Nigerian emails...but since Fred replied promptly, I guess it's legit. Welcome to the tribe! JB
  16. 1st Craft Fair This Weekend

Or you could change "will be" to "must be" to weed out a lot of wannabes. That way, it will be easier to find said offender. Now...what's a guy to do if he encounters a hung jury at his trial? JB
  17. Completely New to Signs

Spend time in the shop every spare minute you can, and learn about your product....inside and out. JB
  18. Bowflex Max Trainer: any owners here?

Well $hit....I didn't mean to open an acrimonious can of worms with the subject, but I guess it was bound to happen anyway. Ditto, ditto, ditto on the used stuff. As mentioned before, I've got a line on a used tread climber that will fit the bill for my winter workouts. Since I've been...
  19. Mobile Decal Business

After a quick glance through this thread, I would suggest you read the book "Business Model Generation". You appear to be all over the board with ideas, but no real specific direction in which to travel. http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/ JB
  20. Competing With Online Giants Like Vista Print & Custom Ink

I used to fret about the big guys also. Have you heard of the Blue Ocean strategy? Basically, it's the concept of moving out of the shark infested "red (bloody) ocean" and getting into calmer waters where you can thrive. Trying to compete with the big guys will potentially cause you to do...
