Ended up being a defect with the packing grease getting on the tension disks. Drytac knew about the problem and the techs came out and installed a new set of teflon tension disks, and it works like it should now.

We've been using the vs-540 for a year now, and we switched it to only pass what it's printing. It hasn't caused us any issues that we know of. It's a lot quicker when it doesn't have to pass all the way across each time. I forgot if the setting is on the machine or in Versaworks.

If you plan on printing wraps, I would recommend the take up reel. We purchased ours at the same time as the printer. Get the Roland one, the cheap ones are just that... cheap. I think we paid $1900. It's easy to install and use.

I feel ya! I tell my guys, that if they do it once, plan on it happening again. If the customer insists on not paying for something minor until it's done, I'll consider it... if they screw around without paying when it's done, they don't get another chance... they're on permanant prepay in full...
