  1. Chevy Express Wrap tips?

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I have to go with what I've got. Where did you place the relief cuts on the wheel wells? How did you go about wrapping the wells? If they were just horizontal wells it would be easy to wrap into them, but as you know these are square wells on the sides...
  2. Chevy Express Wrap tips?

By wrap into them, you mean heat, wrap into the groove, then set by reheating? My fear is that with the material I have it's not ideal for demanding wraps. The description says for vehicles with simple to moderate curves. I know the correct answer is buy material that fits the job but in this...
  3. Chevy Express Wrap tips?

I am obviously concerned about the deep channels on the sides and am wondering if there is a way to avoid trying to heat the material down into the grooves? I have a roll of Oracal Orajet 3551 which is supposed to be great for vehicles with simple to moderate curves (probably not ideal for this...
  4. finaly changed the capping station today

I have had a Mimaki JV33-160 for two years now (it was a demo at the dealer's office originally for probably a year or so before I bought it) and I just recently manually replaced the capping station. As far as I could tell nothing was wrong with it, the rubber seal looked fine on it. The...
  5. Contour Cutting for Mural

Haven't had this problem before so I thought I would run it by the experts. I am printing a high resolution photo at 4.5' x 8' feet long and need to contour cut a rounded rectangle edge around the photo before we apply it to the wall. Normally I create these files in Illustrator, place...
  6. How would you go about redoing this sign?

Thanks for the advice guys and gals. About the plexiglass, do you just charge per hour for removal of that old vinyl (uggh) or can it be cost appropriate to buy a new one?
  7. How would you go about redoing this sign?

Hi guys, I have been mostly a large format printing house and have stayed away from the sign market but I have a client who asked for our help in completely redoing their backlit sign (see attached). I have no experience here, but could really use the additional work. It looks like the sign...
  8. Print Shop Window layout

We just covered our shop windows in window perf a few weeks ago and I love it. It also keeps the office cooler as the sun sets on our window side. Good luck!
  9. Window Perf Install Issue

So, I used the Illustrator>Effect>Warp>Arch effect to try and account for it with a 10% distortion. Does anyone have a range that they use or how they compensate for the natural curvature of a back window?
  10. Window Perf Install Issue

Hi guys, new to installing window perf. My first attempt at installing the graphic left the message running along a rainbow like shape, instead of square, and I'm wondering if I am supposed to account for the curvature of the back window in the design? How can I adjust for this so that the...
  11. Window Perf Application

    Great advice. Thank you!
  12. Window Perf Application

I'm doing my first window perf application today See design attached. It's going on the back of a van. A few questions: Should I apply any extra adhesive liquid for the edges to keep them down? I keep seeing threads about tools to use to ensure a straight cut around the edges. Will an...
  13. Anyone know the cost range per sqft for HP 5500 Designjet INK

I have the Canon IPF 9000 with aqueous inks and it's always smart to estimate at least $2 psf cost for ink and media. I used to try and print outdoor banners with it but you're really trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Solvent inks are best for outdoor anything.
  14. Hooked up w/ a Photographer...NOW WHAT!

I have a Canon 9000 (the 60") and it is a beauty. Question though, can you print on the fathead media with aqaeous (sp) inks? If so what media can you use? Regarding profiling of media, I have a Mimaki JV33-160 with Postershop and have found that there are very little profiles out there for...
  15. Windows Vista

I hated Vista too but then started using the administrator account as opposed to a User account and have had no probs since.
  16. What do you charge printing for wrap?

Going rate is about 14 to 15 for print design and install around here. I will not do it for less, see Frankensigns post for reasons why. To print I have been charging $10. With lam, $12. Chip
  17. Wrap Industry… Your Thoughts?

Whatever floats your boat brother. But the point of this thread was do you think wraps are a fad? I do not. Clearly you took my statement about vinyl lettering on trucks being less impactful than a vehicle wrap and took it as an insult to your skills as a painter and what painting can...
  18. Wrap Industry… Your Thoughts?

Wraps are only as much of a fad as vehicle graphics are. I don't see anyone deciding to stop advertising their company on their vehicles...ever. Some will have the budget for a full impact message about their company, some will not. Those that do will get a wrap! It's that simple. People...
  19. Wrap Industry… Your Thoughts?

Joe, I was certainly not insulted by any remarks in your post as a newb or by any replies as well. As a contributing member to the forum, I thought that a post from the perspective of someone brand spanking new to vehicle wraps may be helpful. Coming from 15 years of sales experience at a...
  20. Wrap Industry… Your Thoughts?

Ok, here goes... I am one of the so-called "new guys" that people on this forum seem to stereotype and dismiss as providing wraps that are horrible in design and installation. While I am sure they are out there, I know that I personally am committed to providing a quality design and install...
