  1. GBC For 8 years - Sales rep says new ones are junk!!

    We have a GBC Orca III that we bought in 1997, still looks and runs like new. We run appox. 400' of pressure sensitive cold lam and adhesive a week. Also we have a tech come in about every 18 mos. or so and give it a once over (adjustments, lube, etc.). Unfortunately they don't make them a more.

    Yes, we have a 4x8 light table on one end and a regular 4x8 table on wheels on the other.

    We've been running Onyx for years, no problems until the latest upgrade to Onyx 11. If I have to do it over again I'll go with Caldera, looks to be much more user friendly.

    I would call the airline, tell them what you have and they will tell you the proper procedure if you can bring it or not. It is not considered flammable nor is it under pressure.

    Have you looked at the print head itself to see if it's clear of any debris, hair, fuzz, dust, etc.. What does the nozzle check test print look like?

  14. Onyx 11 - Anyone else find it unuseable?

    We have been having the same issues with Onyx 11, logos, fonts, images, dropping out.     Your first problem is all of your nozzles aren't firing correctly, that is the reason for the multi color banding. As for the color, what kind of file is it and how is it saved?, Do you have a good working profile for that material?

    The file needs to be flattened. I usually bring the pdf into Photoshop, go to Layer tab then down to flatten, then resave the pdf.

  20. Ran out of ink, not here till tomorrow, am I screwed?

    Both of our printers, the Roland XC 540 and the Epson GS 6000 will stop printing when one of the cartriges run out of ink so no air gets into the line. Unfortunatly the other ink cartridge does not compensate it just stops.
