  1. Ink contamination - VS-540

Not sure how the VS is setup under the heads, but I will tell you how I cured a similar issue on our VP-540. Just like others have stated, it's most likely something with a dampers or the docking station not draining properly. When I fixed ours it was siphoning from one docking station to the...
  2. Help... Printing Reds

We have a VP540 and use the Versaworks RIP. Most of the time we use a Pantone like 186c, but it prints better if you convert it to a cmyk value in Illustrator first. You do that by selecting the item and then in the upper right go to the color pallet and it will show it as a pantone, then just...
  3. GX 24 not cutting through material

I have a gx24 but I haven't cut through annoying that thick. Do you know what blade you have in it? I think that the 60 degree blade cuts thicker material better? Try and go to rolanddga.com and go to their forums. You should have better luck for their product. You just have to enter your model...
  4. Job ticketing / work queue recommendations

We print apparel as well as signs, does anyone have a suggestion for that application that they have a positive experience with? Right now we are just using QB for our estimates and invoicing. I looked at Trello that was mentioned above and it looks good to use for status tracking, but it would...
  5. Pricing install subcontractor

The best way that I have found to deal with using someone else to install is to give them as much information as possible so they can give you an accurate quote. If the number is less than the number that you factor in for your own install then you win. Now you can use your time to generate more...
  6. Rounding corners on fonts and objects?

What I do in Illustrator is I convert the text to outline, then add a small stroke with the rounded corners option, then go to Object - path - outline stroke. Then using the pathfinder tool, merge/weld them together. Sound like a lot, but it's actually really quick. That's how I make most of my...
  7. Online Time Clock

If you want something for free, then you will probably be looking to replace it in the short term. So how much is your time worth to keep changing around your payroll records? If you ever have any state agency or workers comp audit you will find out how important it is to have accurate records...
  8. window perf

I second the no laminate, and yes I got pelted pretty hard by others on here about it. But I just tell the customers up front and in my opinion there are way less problems and I have not had anyone complain about. Who cares, you can't see through a window when it rains anyway!! I know the...
  9. some problems faced using photo tex

Make sure you are using the prpoer profile for the product. You may be over saturating the media?? Did you load the profile settings from them for your printer & ink? That would be the first thing to verify.
  10. should I come back after lunch?

As an employer sometimes it's tough to make payroll, BUT you have to no matter what!! That's the law and there are steep penalties due to the employees if they don'y get paid on time. I would not recommend any of the childish sollutions that I have read above because they can get YOU in more...
  11. Window Perf Problem

Can you see out of any back window when it is dirty? It is not as big of an issue that everyone makes it out to be. If they have their car wrapped they should be keeping it clean for the appearance of their company anyway. Just the way I sell it to the customer I guess?? You just have to explain...
  12. Vinyl on Painted Canvas Awning?

My shop has huge awnings on it and when we moved in they were in bad shape. They have been painted over a few times and previous signs had peeled off sections of paint. The landlord wouldn't replace them, they just had them painted over when I moved in. I was worried that our signage would peel...
  13. Window Perf Problem

That looks just as others have posted, either too much preasure on that section or possibly too much heat if heat was used. I personally hate to laminate window perf any more. It causes way more greif than needed. I just give the customer a good price on a non-laminated perf and tell them that...
  14. Rock/chip protection

Yes, the calandered part is what I'm worried about. As far as I know it's not good to put calandered on top of cast. Sideshow, what is clear coat?? is it a liquid?? Thanks for the responses
  15. Rock/chip protection

Just the 8mil laminate/paint protection (3M 8515) is $4.95 per sq ft. and the smallest roll is 60 sq ft. I only need an area of 8 sq ft so the $300 roll is a bit over kill and I don't see needing to use that product on any other projects in the near future.
  16. Rock/chip protection

Does anyone have some tips on extra protection for the rocker panels on a wrapped truck? I know avery & 3M have their 8 or 9 mil stuff for paint protection that can be used, but it is almost $5 sf. Any ideas would help. Thanks, Carl
  17. Any ideas on what happened?

There is a guy in my area that seams every hood and it drives me CRAZY! I don't know why they think it is easier or?? I only have a 54" Roland and I have never had to seam a hood. You just have to know how to measure I guess?? And CAST, CAST for everything on a vehicle.
  18. Installers??

Thanks Megacab, Yes I am just looking for help in our area. I like doing the installs, but sometimes I get pressed in other directions for the business and I have to put in too much time to get the jobs out on schedule (worked until 2:30am) so the latest wrap would be done on time today. North...
  19. Installers??

I am looking for installers that work by the job to help take some of my burden. I have the shop and everything else, just not the time finish every job as fast as I would like. Any experiences that anyone has had, good or bad would be helpful. Thanks, Carl
  20. New to All-Over Printing

I could go on and on about why there are minimums for the shirts that you want to do, but that would take up the rest of my week. You will see how time consuming it is to set up and cleanup each job soon enough. As for the equipment, you will not go wrong with the Vastex equipment. My first...
