  1. roland xr-640 cutting errors on 3M reflective

figured it out (actually remembered the workaround): use a low-abrasion sandpaper and scuff the material on and around the registration marks. also got a tip from our service engineers to place matte scotch tape around each registration mark. so far so good!
  2. roland xr-640 cutting errors on 3M reflective

We have 2 Roland xr-640 printers, been running them for years w/no issues. Currently printing and cutting on 3M 780 reflective vinyl (usually use Oralite but it's back-ordered). When loading laminated prints to cut, the printer will find all 4 registration marks, then the blade assembly returns...
  3. new internal error Roland XR640

just received the error 1800834 on a roland xr-640 (while sending a small print job). This one is new to me. . .anybody else seen it? I've just rebooted and it's gone now, but I've been having issues with print-cut offset for quite some time, and I'm wondering if the two are connected. . Thanks...
  4. Looking at Epson SureColor S70675PE (Production Edition)

We are looking at the new sure color series as well but have found no real info on the S70675. However, I've been told by 1 distributor and 2 certified service technicians (from two different companies) that Epson's previous solvent printer -- the S70670 series from 2014 -- has been a lot (lot)...
  5. what's wrong with this picture?

Thanks for your response. I would agree except that there are 3 additional installations with printed signs in the general vicinity that do not show this problem (all were installed at the same time). oddness. Ro

  7. what's wrong with this picture?

we've installed a number of park entrance signs over the span of several miles highlighting various landmarks, trail systems and the like. They were installed about 4 years ago, with the graphics printed on a Roland SC540 running Lyson solvent inks, and protected with PPG 2050 anti-graffiti...
  8. Nazdar LWS1300MA (magenta)

  10. Nazdar LWS1300MA (magenta)

Does anyone know of a North American distributor for Nazdar Solvent inks? We're running low on Magenta (LWS1300MA) and our current distributor won't have any for days. Any input greatly appreciated.
  11. Soljet Pro 4 XR-640 vs Epson SureColor s70760

Thanks for your response. We print a lot of decals and still cut a lot (lot) of vinyl, so having a plotter that contour cuts and separates is a good investment for us. The Graphtec will get heavy use. Are you using the white and/or metallic inks? I'm interested in the white ink more than the...
  12. F#(%!NG Head Strike - Might Have Lost a Head... Help

First off I would check for gaps in your ink lines above the dampers. do you have a syringe kit? if so, you can connect the syringe adapter to your vac line for the head in question and pull the ink through the head and cap station manually. If ink comes through, run a couple of medium cleaning...
  13. Roland pro4

just curious why you'd never get another printer/cutter? quality issues or lack of use? I'm shopping, so I'd love to hear your answer. . .
  14. Soljet Pro 4 XR-640 vs Epson SureColor s70760

We have a toss-up between these two contenders for our next printer. We've had an SC540 for 10+ years and still runs great. any insights on either of these machines is appreciated. We're buying a graphtec plotter to run in tandem w/the printer, so the print-cut option on the Roland is not a...
