Its an old Mk1 - I have 2 of the beasts - Motor is still in place I just removed the tubing from the plastic IV pump. It runs for several minutes at start up and every few hours. Its just a bit annoying when your running a job and the timer pauses your print till the cycle completes. Not...
Nothing special really just used existing tubing and routed direct from the white cartridges to the dampers the pump loop is disconnected. Works the same as the Mk 1 3042
Is there a setting or parameter I can access to adjust the white Ink circulation timer or turn it off completely. I run my printers with a direct line to the Damper & give them a shake. Timer still pauses the printer & runs the circ pump randomly would be awesome to do away with all the...
Ive had channels drop out after quick power fluctuations, Causes strange things to happen to my 6042's usually just shut them down and restart and everything is rosy again.
It was two problems , a bad flex cable and the head carrier was too high off the capping station - losing the seal on on yellow/black. The new cable fixed the 12e error and lowering the head carrier to specs got my Ink back.
Just a quick update on the old beast - Got it running on its OEM program and Interface card - ended up using a vintage computer and windows 2k . Works like a champ. Parts for these old machines are scarce.
Reciprocators and pretty much everything else are just not available anywhere. If...
Figured it out myself - for those that have the same questions in the future - You can get upgraded electronics for the old warhorses, meaning you can replace the old 3.5 floppy with a USB drive module. In the case of the Brother BES-1240, it runs on a computer with Win 2000 or XP & uses a...
I know little about these older machines - Pretty old school and uses 3.5" floppys - Looks like a sturdy production workhorse. I need a 4 head but no budget for a newer one.
Are these still viable in 2022 - will they produce quality work ? Is there a company that makes upgrades for the old...
First - if your using non oem ink make sure the white ink has not began to catalize into a brick. You can check this by touching the bag inside the cartridge and feeling for hard lumps in the ink. if its good or your using Mimaki Original ink do an air purge and make sure you get good flow...
Hi John, have you tried just leaving the machine on all the time ? Are you doing a hard pwr down ( turning off the rear pwr switch or unplugging the pwr) That would trigger the autocycle each time you pwr up again. My old 6042's do that if you turn off the rear power switch after you shut...
Anyone have experience using Mimaki LF-140 and LF-200 inks on things that flex and twist and wrinkle ? How long will the ink remain flexible on finished product ? Between the two versions whats the best bet for long term stability - cracking would not be good.
Thanks
Once you have a good bond to the acrylic you might be able to use Sign Painters 1-shot speed dry uv acrylic clear spray to beef up the outdoor protection a bit.
I've had good luck with STS Inks in Boca Raton Fl They will chip your inks anyway you like I have older machines so You would have to ask about the Mk II.
Best advice, Look at how complex the job would be and honestly evaluate your skill to do it. Are there any special adjustments needed, do you have the right tools. What will you do if you install the part and the machine isn't fixed. Tech manuals are scarce and copyrighted, Parts are crazy...
My Best printer with perfect head tests started dropping nozzles / Lost Half the print pattern then changing symptoms to distorted print patterns and finally 12e errors intermittently I cleaned the FFC connectors on slider and slider relay boards same issue but head Yellow/ Black...
Glad you got it working - sounds like you were pretty Thorough . The board could have a bad solder joint somewhere - tough to find, everything has its issues these days.
Nice - I like seeing these old machines rebuilt - Are you replacing the Ink supply lines ? Ive never gotten up the nerve to spend on a new factory set .
Most of the Manufacturers are like that - There is no way to tell how tech savy a printer owner is or who is running / maintaining the machines. People will sometimes take things apart, make adjustments, or handle components roughly without knowing or understanding what they are doing...
