Hi,
I had shorted slider board fry 2x transistors on the main board.

I have replaced the transistors as required, that was no issue.

Measuring all transistors they are all reading the same as each other now but TP5 still open circuit to gnd.

Try to power it up anyway with new slider boards and head unplugged - i get the smd leds on the board light up, and the display backlight come on - but nothing further, no text, no boot etc. After aprox 30 seconds board beeps a long beep.

Any ideas??

Make signs they said... It'll be fun they said...
If you fry one board, you need to check the other boards.
The damage could lead back to the main board. You need to check all the fuses etc.
Probably best that you replace the board entirely.

G'day Dan. How did you get on with the refurb printhead?
Now you've fried the slider and taken out the mainboard??
Do you have the maintenance manual that shows the normal readings for the test points?
We had similar problem ages ago - was TP5 too that tested low. Turns out it was 2 blown transistors on the mainboard.
They are C4550 and A1742. My brother did the diagnosing and fixing, but it did fix it.
Here's a pic of him pointing to the area on the mainboard
