I think the idea is that you're not facing each other while walking through the same doors. So if some selfish idiot decides to wait until they're inside the store to put on their mask, or pull it off before they're outside and away from everyone, coughs or sneezes it won't be directly into someone's face. I'd rather someone sneeze on the back of my head than into my eyes. Personal preference, I guess..

I mean, washing your hands with soap has been a good idea since Louis Pasteur discovered germ theory, not sure why it's changed with Covid.
Sure, your wang is probably cleaner than most things in the store, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't wash your hands. Just common decency..
If everyone properly washes their hands after using the restroom then there will be less germs on door handles and shopping carts...

Masks aren't to protect you from other people, they're to protect other people from you. They're not meant to filter the air you breathe, they're meant to stop respiratory droplets from being flung further than they would without a mask and in lesser amounts. Which they do.
