 This is awesome! Much better than talking heads on political channels.
You mean the ones where they "debate" by yelling over each other and totally ignore what the other person is saying? Then towards the end they break out the insults to really seal their win

Every news story has to divulge into a panel of "experts" who discuss the story and slant their views on it. The mindless drones watching it dont think for themselves and pickup the talking points the "experts" discuss... Now they are armed with those talking points in public... We're now all "experts"

It's sad what news has come to.

Too many people think its news, its a talk show and nothing more. Then when the pundit opinions differ from the facebook memes, we have “fake news”.

It continues to amaze me how people do not live in reality.

1. The ACA was a compromise piece of legislation that attempted to allow private insurance to continue to exist in it's current form while using government funds to help insure those that found health insurance not affordable. Did it work? Yes and no. Some peoples lives improved and others got worse. What I can say is in Massachusetts, they used a very similar program before it was a federal program, and people really thought it was great. The reason it was a success was people wanted to make it a success. The ACA has struggled for support from its inception and as a result has never gotten a truly fair shake.

2. Regardless of your beliefs, there are things in this world called facts, statistics, and professional opinions. Simply put, the countries with socialized medical care or whatever you want to call it, do a better job keeping their citizens healthy. Not only this, it costs less money overall. Is it a tax? Yep. Is it also a cost savings? Yep.

If you pay $1000/mo for health insurance right now and I say "Cancel your insurance and I'll provide you better coverage for $700/mo" you'll turn me down simply because I'm the government? You're saving $300/mo AND getting better coverage. What's the issue?

Unfortunately your numbers are way off. Prior to ACA my premiums for a Cadillac health plan were under $500 month for a large family. Within 18 months of ACA my premiums skyrocketed to $2,500 month. Eventually my plan disappeared. I couldn’t keep my doctors. Everything was lies. Now my premiums are still through the roof and my deductible is 5x what it was and my OOP max is 10x what it was and I still can’t keep my doctor. But hey, I have maternity coverage for my sons now. I have to drive into another county to find a doctor that accepts the current junk plans. Not alone, our community was hit hard by Ocare.

It's amazing how they assemble their "panel of experts" so quickly. There can be breaking news with very little details and information.. stuff that just happened minutes ago.. and they already have 4 experts on giving all their perspectives and possibilities. WTH?

Same here, Luckly Trump killed some of the government control and I was able to keep my plan but with at least a 300% increase. Imagine what everything would cost if the government got involved in everything else also.

ACA was passed in March of 2010, Trump came in Jan of 2017. Not exactly sure what Trump passed 6 years before he was in office that let you keep your plan under a previous president. Part of your 300% increase did come from the current administration because of the post election attempt of them trying to repeal it and gutting whatever they could. It created uncertainty in the insurance markets which led to pretty big increases.
So really, you kind of have it backwards as to who did what for you.

Why are you defining Norway, Finland, Sweden, France, Denmark, Germany, etc. as Socialists.

Do they have Economic Freedom?

Do they have Individual Liberty?

Do the governments control the means of Production?

Why are you and the other uninformed trying to equate Democratic Socialism as its practiced in those countries I mentioned with Maoist and Stalinist communism and some kind of highly oppressive socialism you don't even know the definition of?

Bernie Sanders or AOC are not advocating we become the Khmer Rouge, they are wanting a more restrained and accountable capitalism where people AREN'T dying from skipping their insulin because of its cost. Or going 15 years without a boost to the minimum wage, while the top 1% gets multiple tax cuts and reaps all the economic benefits of people's hard labor.

So do MOST Americans. Every credible study, polling and research shows that the policies being promoted by most Democrats enjoy huge support of a vast majority of Americans.

What a crock................... :dog42: ..... and you have the nerve to call the other side names ?? You should be ashamed of yourself. However, give it your best shot as we all know, this is what you are best at..... spewing your politics all over the place and getting upset when others disagree with you. Must be a sad place in which you live.

................ and you still believe in those dumb polls. :pops_blinking:

I find it problematic that your response is the standard canned response I read whenever the ACA comes up. Frankly, based on my experience of pricing out health insurance pre & post ACA and working my income to benefit me the most with insurance, your story really doesn't jive.

The only explanation I've seen for your story is switching from a faux insurance plan to an ACA approved one or switching from a good company plan to an ACA plan. Even then, your numbers sound extreme and likely exaggerated.

Who said FOX isn't slanted?

I like CNBC and WSJ... I'll be in the top 1% one day.

Interestingly enough, there are a few studies out there that state that Americans belief they will once become part of the 1% is why they believe taxing the wealthy and taxes in general are terrible. Most people simply cannot grasp the huge disparity between the true 1% and the rest of us pions.

Unless the $500 per month for your "large family" was YOUR portion after your employer picked up most of the premium, that doesn't sound like anything I've ever seen anywhere in the last couple decades.

There hasn't been a low deductible, low co-pay, multi-family member policy with a reputable insurer that low priced in many, many years that I've seen. I have friends, former employers, family members, colleagues, business associates with a couple kids and they've all been paying over $1,000 per month for as long as they can remember. I remember an exhibit/tradeshow company I worked at between 1995-2000, 10 years before the ACA and our office manager spent the better part of a month EVERY year shopping for health insurance for us all and the amount taken from my check every week just for me was nearly $50 for a decent policy that didn't have high deductibles and co=pays.

The bigger point is that there are tens of millions of hard working Americans needlessly suffering and not having access to decent healthcare, let alone Cadillac healthcare because of its high cost. Combine that with the FACT that now nearly 50% of all workers earn less than $30k per year, Houston we have a problem. Vilifying other systems for valuing their citizens over the profit motive isn't going to make our system better.
