Just don’t get this essential thing...rant

I understand. Our county went on quarantine but... by that point, entertainment venues were shut down, restaurants were restricted to take-out, nail salons, barber shops, spas and other related shops were all closed. Yet the list of "essential" shops is staggering. Our business is still open, but we are doing online business with customers. Pick ups are brought to the door and paid in advance online. Our work with the hospital & police department is the reason. But still, soooo many businesses are still operating as business as usual. Dress shops, drug stores, construction, landscaping, you name it. They are all finding ways to not be affected.

Meanwhile, I went through a drive-thru. The women at the window didn't have gloves on. My food was in a paper bag. I'm certainly within 6 feet of her. The virus on the bag could survive for 24 hours. On a plastic bag, even longer. Ketchup packets... who knows. So if I accidentally rub my eyes... so no more drive-thru for me. And many of these rules are not fair.

FYI, most quarantine orders do allow you to maintain equipment. Nobody wants to find out their machine ran out of ink or quit performing cleaning cycles.

I should be good with ink for a while. Near new 1 liter bags are in the printer. Can ratchet up the time between cleanings too.

Because doing so; he's being another vector for the spread of the virus. Many, many, many lives are at stake here: STAY HOME for a few weeks !!
Not fun and hard on the wallet but this is the price to pay individually and collectively.
Anyone who does not grasp the general concept of this is a complete MORON or a delirious paranoïac (and still a moron).
Good luck with that... You do know the Coronavirus is not new right? That this a mutation and it will continue to mutate and like all symbiotics it is working as hard as we are to not kill it's host.

Also, why are there reports coming out that the CDC and AHA are going back to December and retesting negative Flu results for Coronavirus?

From what I understand...... if you ingest this virus, your stomach acids will kill it instantly. Breathing it, having it come in through your eyes and some other cavities, it has a chance to hang on and start doing it's thing. It wants a dry area, like in your nasal areas, but can survive under certain conditions in mucousy areas. It's nothing to play with, as we know very little about it, so everyone, please practice safe measures.

As for those who think they are above it all, it's just a good thing you weren't around when the world plunged into a world war and we HAD TO stay indoors, have black outs and eat very little and ration most things to keep up the fight. You people would've wilted away crying in your cereal about all the stupid little inconveniences while the brave men & women gave their all to defend the world. You people are cowards and pathetic worthless dregs of society that this world has ever known.

Not quite right...
Viruses are different in their basic shape; Coronavirus describes a "family" of viruses that kinda wear a crown (hence the word corona). Covid-19 is a new member of this family of viruses with yet no known effective treatment (vaccine, medications, etc).

We have to see this as World War III; only this time it's the entire world against the enemy. WE ARE AT WAR. United we stand, divided we fall.

Stay safe my brother in arms.

While news of a new novel and deadly virus spreading across the globe may be terrifying, it’s important to recognize that there’s another, more familiar virus in this country to be concerned about: It’s the flu. According to the CDC, there have already been up to 51 million cases of the flu this season, leading to hundreds of thousands of hospital admissions and up to 55,000 deaths.

I hope the government doesn't get any ideas about shutting down the country every flu season.

They wont but if we dont start mass testing and mapping they will have no choice but to shut it down every time this covid19 pops back up. We have/had the luxury of learning what to do based on other countries such as germany and s korea in order to stop this but we did not. Time was and is still being wasted trying to minimize this away as being another cold. The cdc is going back and testing flu deaths for this reason, to try and fit a dangerous narrative which it wont. People dont die of unknown causes in the hospital, thats what raises red flags and catches these sorts of things. If it was here last year, the usa would have determined what it was before china.

Have you read the list of essential businesses in your area? All the lists I've seen make provisions for businesses that support essential businesses to remain open. So if your clients include essential businesses like restaurants, clinics or pharmacies, then you might be OK to remain open.

Please, don't stay open just to sell a few "wash your hands" signs or whatever. Send your staff home, stay home yourself and weather the storm (no matter how bas it is); NO amount of money is worth risking the health and in some cases the life of yourself, your family, your friends and your neighbours.

Be safe, take care.

I'm not staying open to fill orders in a black van behind the alley down the road for some coronavirus cash from sketchy characters who "don't believe in this". They probably haven't washed their hands all day anyway...ugh gross. Lucky for me, I'm a couple blocks from the cop shop and right on the main road! Not much behind the scenes going to happen at the shop. Business quickly disappeared last week Friday anyways. I'm telling people I can take orders but nothing will be done until the order is lifted. Most people are fine with it. Getting a few things done around the house and next week I'll head in to clean, work on a few layouts, etc.

I've had a series of customers private message me for smaller jobs thinking that I will jump at them and when I tell them no, they seem shocked. I had a lady call me this morning for boat registration numbers and she insisted that "this is stupid" so I should make them - I don't care if it's stupid, it's the law right now and I'm not getting a $250 fine or 30 days in jail over registration numbers. Technically, I probably could since they are required by law but it's a personal fishing boat, not a commercial fishing boat. AND - does it really pay for me to get in my car, drive to the shop, start everything up, cut a quickie job, wait for her to curb side pickup and then drive home? No, and if you do not understand then you are not a customer I want to deal with - go to Walmart and grab some cheap ones for now. She got upset and told me if I didn't do them TODAY, her husband would get mad and go to a shop in a near-by city...I said OK, sorry I can't help you. (Neither will any other shop, but good luck with that!)

The fact is some people get it and some people don't.

After another week of this people will start getting antsy. I bet by the end of next week things start opening back up. Leaders will start to feel pressured

Yes, I'm in a small town though and the clinic and pharmacy are in the same building. Only one doctor lol The other sign and apparel shops have closed or only open on demand for medical signage.

Not so sure about that. Didnt the number of cases double this week? On this trajectory we will be over 200k by the end of next week and as people start knowing people that have it, it will become much more real. I think in a week or 2, you will start seeing more people afraid to go to work than you will see people that want to go back.

We really need to see who has had it before. If there are asymptomatic carriers that had it and didn't know, then we need to find out how large that group is. If they discover that a large percent of people had it and never knew, that would lessen the fears of how wide this could spread. I could swear my daughter had it a few weeks ago.. symptoms fit it to a T and it wasn't good. My wife had a little symptoms and I had none...yet if it was as contagious as it was I would of thought we would catch it. Could of been the flu but who the hell knows? I'd like to know if we had it or not so I can stop acting like a germaphobe.

The math doesn't support it, you would have already seen it in hospitalizations. She probably had what mine had, I forget what they called it. That and rhinovirus.
