Thank you for your input. I understand everyone else's opinion as well.I think the logo is clean, precise, readable and cool. It would transfer fine to signage or letterhead. Just my opinion....as far as the A and the R, our minds can distinguish the difference plus i can see the difference. We cant idiot proof every layout
Hey Omni, welcome to signs 101.
One thing that's bothering me on the layout is the top line relates to the bottom line before it relates to the next letter. I hope that makes sense.
Only reason I mention it is because no one else did. So it could be me.
Welcome to the world of design. I hope you win the competition. Because working for nothing sucks.
I agree I think the graphic on this layout is a little better.Personally - I like the design. It's clean and concise as for execution. The font choice could be a bit better - but at the same time - reflects the niche of 'sciency' if you will...
I would caution the OP OmniSeeIt Designs - that you better prepare yourself for a realm of constructive critique when posting your designs for commentary on Signs101. As you can tell - some of the critique can be a bit harsh.
Taking a look at your FB page though - I can certainly understand the critique in regards to "does the logo actually convey the meaning of 'Binary Dynamics'" .... The name is a bit duplicitious, as has been noted. And personally - having seen the previous design on your FB page - I think I prefer it to the one that you've posted:

This design seems to be more representative of the "Binary Dynamics" concept.
Anyway - welcome to the community. Best of luck with the contest.

Thank you for your input! And yes binary represents two "bi." In this case though the client was interested in that symbol at the time and so, even though it did'nt make any sense to use, I still implemented it. Because when I showed him the first design he wanted to change it to that symbol. I asked him if he was sure? He responded, "Yes!" So I never argued. And Even after all that time spent. I lost. Bummer! Not a good logo. Hard to read and has no meaning. Also there is a discrepancy between "binary" (which is composed of two elements) and the model image that clearly shows three elements.
"Logos" are best thought of as part of a branding or identity strategy. They do not function well as stand-alone devices. It takes dedicated planning and usually years of exposure before a "logotype" or "mark" becomes associated with a service or product. In the beginning it is usually better to call the company what it is, establish a branding strategy, and evolve organically.

Hmm! Insults for what? This site seems to have too many negative people. I mean I understand that they do exist. But the amount that I've seen so far in a matter of such a little time that I've been here is pretty ridiculous. Can we all just get along?Maybe your eyes are more finely tuned to something up on a 27" monitor or due to your age, visual acuity, etc. To presume those who take issue with a font choice are that for one isn't a display font typically used for the primary impact message in a logo, but also letterspaced too widely and one used in a word that has a couple characters far too similar looking to consider are "idiots" denies the experience, skills and proven track record some of us have built over our careers.
Besides, this isn't a "layout", its a logo design that potentially could be used on a variety of formats. I challenge anyone to take this logo, scale it down and put it on a 1"x 2" decal "layout" that the company intends to stick on all of its products and tell us that the font reads clearly as the word BINARY and not BINAAY or BINRRY. Even on a business card, it would be weak and tough to read clearly.

You will have to excuse my fellow sign people, they get a little rambunctious when they see someone's artwork.
I am guilty of that myself. So I took the symbol the guy wanted to use and incorporated into the type. Also showed a business card layout.
Use to do a lot of crowdsourcing contest a while back, it is great exercise in developing speed and ideas in layout and design and seeing what sells and does not.
Has anyone even bothered to read them? The 'rules of engagement' also known as the Signs101 Posting Policy... Most importantly this as concerns some of the more recently deleted posts:the newly implemented rules of engagement haven't filtered down to your level yet.
The Signs101 Stance Summarized
Signs101 Forum has taken a rather liberal approach to moderating the forums: There is very little editing/revising/deleting of members' posts in general and we'd like to keep it that way. As with laws of any land, there may be the rare exception made at the discretion of the Signs101 Moderating Team. With this in mind - Let's reiterate a few ground rules that will let us keep our exceptions down to the bare minimum:
- The maxim "Treat others how you want to be treated; Do unto others as you would have them do unto you; Speak to and of others how you would like to be spoken to and about; Feel about others how you would have them feel about you; Think of others the way you would like to be thought of; Make an effort to respect even the unrespectable." is the type of environment we're creating here at Signs101 Forum. This most golden of rules is particularly important!
- Intentional and unnecessarily violent, objectionable, pornographic, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, ageist and/or posts of personal attacks or purposeless hate is not acceptable here at Signs101 Forum. Use common sense.
