No laughing please, cause I'm still making money off of this. : ) It is now time to get a real graphic production computer for both rooms.

Presently we are using for billing & graphics
Pentium(R) 4 cpu 1.82 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM

Production
Pent(D) 2.99 GHz 2.00 GB of Ram

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Computer help

What are you doing with it (design, rip etc) and what programs are you running? Budget?

Pentium(R) 4 cpu 1.82 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM
CS2 Photo-ID-Illustrator, Pagemaker & billing

Pent(D) 2.99 GHz 2.00 GB of Ram
CS2 Photo-ID-Illustrator, Pagemaker, flexi

As far as budget, $1200 - $1600 if need be higher, will be worth it if I don't have to wait for files to open & save.

Thanks

must admit... if I where to buy a new computer ... those would be within a normal budget of what we need as sign, graphics, artist, craftsman.
..bookmarked it and sets a new goal ..

thank you

I'd up the budget a bit to about $2500.

64bit OS to maximize RAM (8gb min)
Dual proc mobo, with quad core chips... make 8x cores.
Lotsa cooling technology (but not oil immersion! LOL)
Separate scratch disk for Graphics Program
RAID for OS/Data Partitions (3-disks)
Separate GPU (as much as your wallet can stand)
Ginormous power supply...

Most Importantly....

Define your backup strategy, and your recovery process. Practice it!
