Just yesterday before Trump paused the tariffs, he started on a tangent about Canada not allowing American banks into the country which is 100% false, we use Chase as our merchant processor and I have a citi bank credit card in my wallet right now. This was never about the border, it was just a fabricated emergency so he could use an executive order and bypass the usual checks and balances. Trump has done more for Canadian unity in the last week than any Canadian politician has done in 40 years, so thanks I guess...

six figure charge for a US ship, a small fee for Chinese ship? That was the problem that precipitated this. Along with Panama letting China establish a colony there.

I know you're upset. But I'm not sure why. Trump is cleaning up a mess he inherited. Aren't you in California? I can tell you I see more California license plates here in Texas because people are fleeing california in droves.

It's more than that. China's designs around the world are not just economic, though economic power is going to make it into no contest when they decide to exercise the strategic advantage they have amassed from their economic activity around the world. Which includes the control of the Panama Canal they have gained and their placement of a key natural gas station in Colon, Panama, right on the terminus of the canal along with the free trade zone they have taken over there.

Yes, the Mexican president asked Trump about that. He did agree to help.

I very strongly believe it may take a little bit but I think all three countries will work together. We might be able to cut down on the cartel in Mexico which would make Mexico great again also. I love going to Mexico it's such a beautiful country with wonderful people. Would be great if it were safer and they could get their tourism back in full action without giving the cartel a cut.

North America could be one hell of a place if we can all work together.

handuns crossing the border into canada has been an issue since before I was born, it's not a democrat / republican issue. Almost every shooting that takes place here seems to be with a handgun that came over the border.

Are you sure?...........under Carter, Reagan, and Clinton I could cross Northern or Southern borders using only a state id or driver license... I even came back into USA using a HS school id when I was 15 (and driving a rental car that was rented to someone I was not related to nor were they in the car!)

I haven't heard anyone having it this easy in many years.

The crossings we're talking about don't take place at the regular places like between Detroit and Windsor. They're making those more onerous but it's not where the illegal crossings happen. Apparently it's up in the northwoods of Maine and Vermont or something.
