THAT IS LITERALLY THE EASIEST AND DUMBEST WAY TO GET OUT OF AN ARGUMENT.
you also probably dont want to talk about the millions of dollars in damage that was done to cities during the summer of 2020. you want to scream about the capitol building. Which was cleaned up and everyone moved back in the next day. Tell me, how long did it take to clean up the summer of love? More whataboutism that won't get answered.
Is the 2020 incident the Portland downtown one? Not too familiar with it.... I was pretty surprised more people didn't get arrested for the Portland incident... It was crazy seeing it on the news without much being done to squash it. Peaceful protesting is one thing, but what they did was just as bad as what happened at the Capitol.
Again I say though.... Doesnt matter if it was cleaned up quickly... Storming the capitol, and injuring police is pretty bad. I don't believe Trump invited them to do it, but I also don't think he should have pardoned them... Especially not the violent ones.
I don't know how much of it was covered in USA, or if you guys even heard about it... But did you hear about the 2011 Canucks loss that caused a riot? People were smashing windows, pushing cars over.... It got so bad cops couldn't do anything but let it run its course.
The next few weeks / months, they reviewed all the footage they could, put up every photo of criminals with a tip line... Everyone who broke the law even in a small way ended up with a record. I had a buddy who got caught up on it from work... He was caught helping roll a cop car down the street before some people pushed it over - he had to pay $10,000 fine, and spent the next 6 months worth of weekends in jail. I told him its what he gets for being a dumbass.
That's what I'm used to - for the most part if someone does something up here in ye old Canada, people face consequences.... Doesn't matter if they're right or left or in the mid. You do the crime, you do the time - and I'd never try to make the argument that the conservatives get away with it, so the liberals should too.... The argument I'd make is why are the conservatives getting away with it, and push for the liberals to also face consequences.... Because the law is the law, and all of these "minor" things lead up to much larger things.... And in reality, they arent minor. Just because nothing bad happened this time, doesn't mean it wouldn't next time.
Annnnd I'm too lazy to find and quote the other thread where you asked if people would condem Hilary's email scandal / or any of the other stuff - i know my opinion doesn't mean much on USA politics in here, but they investigated and found classified emails on her private server, didn't they? Yes... They should throw the book at her. If people continue to get away with handling classified information half assed, it's going to keep happening.
