USSC Sign World 2010

The USSC Sign World 2010 in Atlantic City on December 2, 3, & 4 is fast approaching and it would be great to have a "Meet and Greet"! Gino I know you brought up this idea in another thread and I just wanted to start a new one with the right keywords so that it would be easily searchable.

Our own Joe Diaz and Dan Sawatzky will be hosting seminars and they brought the "Bullpen" back so it should be a pretty good show!

Who's going and what days?

I will be there Thurs. afternoon and leaving Sat. after the show!

So let's start kicking around some ideas...might be nice to catch a bite to eat and a cocktail somewhere one of the days after the show!

I'm getting there Saturday morning and then off to the Borgotta after the show... around 4pm.

We should all wear a patch or something and meet on the floor somewhere and if there's time get together later in the evening if enough are still there. I'm not sure if I could make that, but meeting at the show at a designated time and place would be fun.

I'll be there exhibiting our new IW Sign Division. Booth 212. I would look forward to meeting some of you folks face to face.

I'm returning this year after a little break in the last couple of years. I'm hoping there will be renewed interest in the show this year and it will start to return to what it used to be. I tried hard a few years ago to really organize a gathering, we had name badges, corporate sponsorship by Gerber, gifts and other things but the attendance was poor. Unfortunately, I think that trying to meet at the show is hopeless. There is a limited time and everyone is trying to cram in seminars and floor time at the show. Here are some options for success in this area:

1) We really should chip in and get a Signs101 booth, and then anyone can meet and hang around whenever they get a moment. You could have sign in sheets where you leave your contact information, prizes for all that sign in, organized gatherings after the show and then people will know where to go to get that information.

2) Simply arrange for a one shot meeting somewhere after the show in the evening but I wouldn't expect a huge turnout for that either.

3) Whenever you go to a seminar, ask the instructor to make an announcement at the end of the seminar for all Signs101 members to gather in the rear. At least that way you'll get to say hello quickly and then maybe you can further that association at the time.

I must say however, that as poor as the attendance was at our first attempt, it turned out to be a great overall success. I got to meet a handful of people that are now great friends and those friendships were also the catalyst for the current NE Signs101 Meets.

I am also staying at the Tropicana Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night, then leaving after the show on Saturday night. If anyone doesn't have lodging yet, the Tropicana is a great option, it's a nice reasonable place with lots of things to do on site and the shuttle stops at their door. They have a discount now for better rates than any of the show hotels.

Any idea on the cost of a booth...sounds fun but I would imagine it to be expensive. If enough people were chipping in on it to make it reasonable than I'm all for it!

We usually stay at the Tropicana but this year I reserved a room at the Trump to try something different. The Trop was always fun with a lot to do during the evening!

I like the idea of a patch!! I will likely be sporting something with my avatar logo on it!

What if we planned to meet after either the Diaz or Sawatzky seminar? I am sure most Sign 101er's at the show will be attending those!

I just checked and Sawatzky has the last seminar on Friday which ends at 5:30 and the show only goes until 6.

Only problem would be Gino not being there until Sat. =(
We could aways meet again on Sat too though Gino!

I am planning on going this year too (SAi Booth). That is interesting about the Tropicana. I want to stay at a casino as I am fond of blackjack.

+1 for getting together for drinks.

The Trop is a great hotel. I wouldnt stay any where else. Alot of things to do and good eats as well...if you like Italian they have a place called Carmines that is family style and very very good

Uh oh....I just remembered that I hadn't registered for the show yet so I just did that...unfortunately, I looked at the vendor registration after I registered only to see that half the floor is empty and there seems to be almost no major manufacturers or suppliers represented. I fear this will be the smallest show ever.

Oh no... I was hoping this year would be better than last. It seems to be getting smaller and smaller every year
I like the idea of a Signs101 booth, perhaps they would have a discounted fee for us because we're not selling anything but camaraderie.

Alright, I am going to call USSC Monday and find out a price on a booth just for fun.

If it ended up being something feasible to do I would imagine we would have to get approval from Fred for one, two we would have to have some kind of exhibit set-up. Nothing major but a booth, some signs, etc...

Leave it to the members of "Signs101", we will bring the AC Sign show back!! =)
