I just looked at your site and I will say that if you are doing design as well as installs then you deserve $65 per hour freelance. Your work seems top notch.

You got some very nice looking work on there Sir! And it shows that you take your time and make a perfect job.
Kudos to you!!!
Just a thought.
You display your hourly rates on the splash page.
You may want to lose those or alter them in case the potential clients see this page and start bidding you way lower than what you are coming in at!
Also in my opinion they are very very low rates for the expertise service you are offering!

Wow ... awesome words thank you so much!

Thanks again ... honestly if I had 5 grand laying around I would find a small warehouse vehicle bay and start again ... but not feasible right now ... it all happens for a reason ...........

Just a follow up as promised ...... we went to the negotiation table, and I use the term loosely ...

My absolute minimum was $125 per vehicle WITH a helper and a promise of three units per day ... their negotiation was $60 per vehicle and try working faster to make more daily income ........ lol .... ahhhhh no ...

Oh well what could have been a nice gig, won't happen except for the low baller that accepts $60 per unit ....... fortunately I stopped by to see shovelhead at his shop and vented on him lol ....... we had fun, good guy!

Ya win some...... ya lose some..............

This seemed like one no one will win.... even the customer if he finds someone for $60 a pop. Check the place out in a few months and see what quality of work was furnished.

Without that paint band at the bottom, I would've done them for $60 or $65 each. On site or in-house.

Figure it….. 250 trucks times $60 is $15,000.
Do three a day, that’s 83 days…. That equates to $180 a day

Take out that paint band and you could do about 10 or 12 a day which equates to about $650 a day. Not bad for someone doing it part-time. Give it a long day and you might get 15 or so done in a day, by yourself. Now you’re at about $1,000 a day. Some rough work, but when opportunity presents itself, think outside the box and tell them to nix the paint band and they have a deal.

lol some of your points are valid and some not so much ...... but hey we always disagree anyway ........ no biggie ...... 125 a pop includes an assistant which I had ........ he deserves at least 12 an hour. No way I am touching these for $60 a pop ........ and the rocker vinyl stays, it's mandatory per Frontier ...... although they would have been wayyyyyyy better of having these vans shot with paint in that region ...

its 2mil vinyl ... it will be chipped and crapped up in no time ...

then they sent PRE masked 8" rolls of 3m ........ which make it a much larger bitch to install .......... I would have just ordered NO MASK vinyl rolls ... because I could easily take the backing paper off and place the full piece without mask ........ having the mask on is a PITA because it lifts the vinyl when removing ... even when wetting and breaking the mask glue ... so I agree without this rocker stripe ............. MAYBE I could have come down a tiny bit more ..... but they want cake, the frosting AND they wanted me to supply the forks ........

Happy Holidays ............... xxxx

Oh well, no sense working for free!

That parking lot full of vans looks intimidating...that's a serious fleet.

ps. you should change your signature to "formally ISAG and Route23Signs" lol!

Hi Pat ....... intimidating not really I welcomed the work ...... that's half the fleet ...... the ones completed there, every other one has serious install issues, including sliced door moldings, tunneling and crooked graphics ........ this is why the original installers got canned.

Unfortunately the business that agreed to install the vinyl graphics has ZERO experience with signs and graphics. Frontier wanted a one stop shop to do their vehicles .......... so since this Co. that was installing after market items ............ said SURE we can handle the graphics part too ........... and well they sorta could ........ they agreed for a very small price and then realized that it takes skill and more money to get good installers .......... not my issue. More opportunities will come around ........

Here's another moral: elipsis are three dots and aren't replacements for sentence breaks. Perhaps time to consider decaf! Anyway sounds like a nightmare job at those margins but it's too bad you couldn't come to an agreement. Maybe they'll learn the lesson that you use specialists when appropriate or "one stop shops" that are fully experienced--the business they went with sounds like neither.

Sucks you couldnt work it out. I personally dont like dealing with frontier. Not out our way at least. All they have done is bitch and moan about price and so and so does it for this much. Plus the whole waiting 90 days to get paid thing. I got screwed on that once. Everything I had in writing from them had payment would be made in 30 days of invoice. 45 days later, no check, call them up and they tell me that they changed their payment processing and now it is 90 days. I hate waiting 3 months to get paid.

CSSD did you have a written contract with them? If so I would have said fine you changed to 90 day but our policy/contract is 30 days!

Ya we had a written contract signed by the local guy here. Their purchase order had 30 days everywhere except for one place. There it had 90 days. Never saw that one until I reread everything. Sucked. One of the guys told me after this happened, when I fill out the invoice, make sure I put the date they first contacted me about the work. Usually takes them about 30 days to make a decision around here. Have done this a couple of times and usually nothing is said about it.

I really dont care for Frontier anyway. Hate their service here and have only had problems with them when I did use them.

Glad you stuck to your guns, but hey, you didn't lose a good job because it isn't a good job, they simply are not going to pay & they are only going to get what they pay for so let them have goofy looking trucks.

You might want to see a doctor about that.
