  1. MIMAKI JV33-260 2X CMYK. LOOKING FOR ORANGE INK.

There's not much you can do if the printer wasn't programmed to support it. If you do find a way, be aware that pure color inks like orange and red fade quick out in direct sunlight.
  2. Bubbling vinyl?

Could be just a bad wet install like Gino said. Or, take it a step further, if that black is an air release vinyl, and someone tried to install wet. Fluid works through the channels, pools where it ends up, gets crazy hot in the sun under the black, water turns to vapor, and makes big bubbles...
  3. One Way Vision (Laminated)

Laying dry with or without lam isn't that hard if you do it right, found a vid of how I do it to help visualize. Start it straight, work from top to bottom, pull the liner down as you go so you don't have all the adhesive exposed to grab where you don't want it to, before you want it to, makes...
  4. NEED HELP IN THE WORST WAY! XC540 Acting very weird!

Code 0106 can just be a limit initialize value lost, a fault in the tool carriage/ head carriage disconnect, or a backlash issue. If you heard a clunk when it happened, I'd focus on those components to see if something broke or skipped position. With this, also check the belt tension if the...
  5. One Way Vision (Laminated)

You should never apply laminated perf wet, and this is why. The fluid can't be pushed out, gets trapped in the holes, obstructs vision, causes premature failure, and there's no way to remove it. Once you laminate perf, it's dry install only.
  6. Roland XF-640 8 color mode?

Just keep in mind when you start using them, pure orange is more prone to fading outdoors in the direct sun than other colors.
  7. Lookin for a source for, or tips for making something like this...

They're easy. 6x6 cedar for the upright, whatever length, width you want for the cross bar, simple cross lap joint to connect them, bolt together, an L bracket on top so it's hidden for added support (if needed), and you have it. Make it fancy? Bend some mild steel or aluminum flat bar stock...
  8. Lookin for a source for, or tips for making something like this...

+1 for Foamcraft. That's who I use for signs like this. I'd go HDU, they have a ton of stock shapes to pick from, or do custom ones. Don't even have to paint them, they'll sent it finished and ready to hang. Poles, do them yourself, or just sub it out to a local woodworking shop. Other than...
  9. Need help with my ucjv 300 mimaki printer. Gloss is fading

Looks un-cured, clear looks pretty heavily layered too. Try something, do a test print with the same settings, then on your Mimaki you should be able to go into setup/ UV mode, and there should be a 'no print' option, it'll go over it with lamps only. See if that cures it, or at least better. If...
  10. Pole Banner Hardware for Square Poles?

This. And yup, those work on square poles too. Just make sure the top and bottom ones are level with each other. I've used them on square, round, decorative, and octagon poles. They just have to hold well enough to not slide, just like a round pole. It's not like you're hanging a car off it (or...
  11. Latex Printing on actual cloth type artist's canvas (??)

Most of us are printers, not painters. There are quite a few on here who still do a lot of painting, but not many are on during the weekends. Yer' not wasting anyone's time. What you're doing is unique, special, and just won't be in everyone's wheelhouse. I started out with brushes and pounce...
  12. Pole Banner Hardware for Square Poles?

The straps work, the bigger the pole the better they do with square ones. Never really had any issues, although if you don't like the fit, or do have issues, you can always re-torque them in a week or so, just to get the corners to form good so they don't slide. If you can bolt directly, it...
  13. Latex Printing on actual cloth type artist's canvas (??)

Used to do canvas prints for business lobbies and trade show applications. Did most solvent printed, some on the flatbed, layered to get a little of the hand painted look. For those we stretched them on the frame first to prevent ink cracking when mounting, added a painted or stained outside...
  14. Are you open?

Leave it to Tex to take all the fun out of it by offering a reasonable explanation...
  15. Making a transition

I think you'll enjoy it... After I retired, even though I was just doing freelance designing after that, I loved the home working environment. At least you don't have a spouse who got so spoiled having the house to themselves that they'll send ya' back out into the cold cruel world
  16. Direct UV or Laminated vinyl for outside?

It's like buying grade 8 bolts to hold something lightweight together, no added benefit, just added cost. It's just using the right material for the job, and staying competitive with pricing. You have to charge the customer more, and pay more for cast that's best suited for surfaces that aren't...
  17. Direct UV or Laminated vinyl for outside?

If you want it to last, printed vinyl with lam. Still the best for longevity outdoors. Polymeric are perfect for this (the Substance vinyl akuarela uses is one, 3M IJ40 is another, most brands have a line of them). They're more affordable than cast, and don't shrink like plain ol' calendared...

  19. What numbskulls approve these layouts?

Donation line... Collecting money for new graphics? Whatever it's purpose is, it needs to stop. Immediately.
  20. Question Vehicle Wrap Labor , Costs & Installers

The bulk of our business is signage and installs. We can/ will do wraps, but have never really had a desire to be a "wrap shop", opting to stick more to corporate vehicle branding. We're not in a major metropolis, so the market here for full wraps isn't huge to start with, have several shops in...
