Unfortunately, our society has gone downhill since the breakup of marriages, the permissive society and the lack of a work ethic in the " me" generation. Today's workforce is subpar with the drug abuse and lack of morals. The legalization of recreational drugs will only make it worse.
After I make a dimension I immediately break it apart (Ctrl-K) and ungroup it (Ctrl U). this negates dynamic dimensioning. The reason I do this is that different drawing objects are at different scales throughout the drawing. For example, a building elevation may be at 1/16"=1' scale, while the...
I found it :-)
CAS (computer-aided sign making): General term for the use of design software and computer controlled manufacturing equipment in the sign-making process.
Ignoring the chatter about using other software to do this task:
A step further is to make a separate Corel drawing and have templates of each type of layout. Then all you have to do is change the copy and the font. You copy and past the element into your sign drawing.
The dimensions snap to the objects as long as you have "edit across layers" option active. I put the dimensions on its own layer so it is easier to shut them off when it comes time to take the sign itself into a full size pattern. Same goes for other elements in the drawing. my "SIGN" layer is...
I am asking a serious question and I expected a serious answer only. I have been working on a sign industry acronym guide for years that I will be releasing to the public before I retire.
I looked at the "State of the Industry" page that shows the results of a survey of the sign industry. one section is titled "CAS/Commercial Signs".
What does the acronym "CAS" stand for?

As soon as I create the dimension I break it apart and ungroup it. This disables dynamic dimensioning, which is useless on drawings that have elements drawing at different scales. For example a building elevation may be at 1/16"=1'-0" architectural scale and a detail on another page is at...
Since my drawings are multipage and have elements at different scales, I turn off the dynamic dimensioning and break the dimensions apart as soon as they are made. If I didn't do that the dimensions would change automatically.
I use Corel as a drafting program. Since I took AutoCAD classes in college I found out that layers are very helpful in technical drawings. When I draw signs the actual sign objects are on a separate layer so that it makes it easy to take those objects to make production patterns. I put all...
