altered, is it one particular colour ink that is clogging? I have the S40, so far so good. And yes they flew someone in to do something to the machine so that it won't be a shocking hazard.

So you mean using the bodyguard knife? Never thought of that... I see why you'd need a nice big overlap in that case you have to lift vinyl a bit, and starting the cut seems like it might be fun. Not to mention it won't be a perfectly straight cut as when using a ruler or guide. Interesting

BUTT SEAMS I've heard that this is a great way to install a wall mural, especially with materials like phototex. I've read (on this site) and had sales people say to me: it's easy... just overlap, cut through both layers and remove the two waste pieces and you have a virtually unnoticeable...

Not sure if I'm seeing this right, but is the banding in the direction of the roll feed? If so, too high of a temp causing media to get wavy?

You're still under warranty, I would call Epson if I were you. I run 4pass with no visible banding on my S40. Post a photo of the banding? Does it appear at the beginning of the print or after a bit of time?

I have the S40 (I used Caldera as well). Really like the machine.... except for the smell. A lot stronger than the previous generation. Epson says the smell shouldn't be different, and it shouldn't be bothering me, but in a 2000 sq.ft. shop here, 18' high... it stinks it up pretty bad when...

Slower with more pressure helps in my experience. Heat does help. With time, they should go away as the adhesive wets out. People call this silvering. Usually higher quality laminates silver less in my experience.

I don't think I've ever seen silvering that doesn't go away on its own, with time. It seems like the laminate adhesive always wants to wet out, and will do it within 24-48 hours. Is there silvering that you see that never goes away? We have heat assist, but rarely use it.

I think I might have some bad news for you... I don't think that will go away. Known issue with first gen surecolors.. and my S30 for sure. No rhyme or reason that I can figure out. Neither could the local techs. Went through 5-8 heads (not sure..), was all no cost to me except for downtime...

Does the 560 have larger gamut than 36x ? I thought it just had extra optimizer head to allow it to lay down more ink each pass.. but thought it was all the same inkset?

Last summer I walked in to see a pool of cyan ink on my shop floor by the printer. Still under warranty, so they came right away and replaced the ink bay and cleaned up a bit. And now, since I love punishment I am considering getting the s40....

That's even easier??? Load some banner. Put a mark in front of your pinch wheel...print the job. Transfer the mark to the second side. THen when you're loading, just make that mark in front of your pinch wheel.

Nope.. the liquid wrecks the paper liner. Especially if you cut too deep.
