https://www.firesprint.com/vinyl-roll-length-calculator.html Use firesprints and a caliper. It's fairly accurate to within a few ft
  2. Building a RIP station for ONYX - Seeking computer specs feedback

Doesn't onyx use more threads the moremrips you have? We have 12 rips, and a 7950x.... Can rip 100 files in minutes, it's nice. How are your files being stored? On the network, or on the computer? If on the network I'd go for a 2.5gb card / network of possible. Name is good, ram is...
  3. Not sure if I'm using the correct terminology................................................................................

Most people on Etsy or in the homecraft business spray their decals with clear lacquer in order to make it a little bit water resistant. It tends to flake, and it produces a garbage product.. My guess is your customer was thinking you just spray painted some sort of clear coat on top and are...
  4. Best way to cut premask cut vinyl

I'll kiss cut, then perf cut to square. Weed each decal.... Line then up / premask then all at once, flip it over and hand cut the extra premask using the paper as a guideline. If you want to get fancy you could cut out reg marks on the outer 1" of your vinyl.... Weed it away, premask, load...
  5. Best practice for cut vinyl ACM sign

A is the longest lasting if you're in a Sunny area... C is the easiest, most cost effective. Never done B... Not sure I ever would, but I guess technically it works. Diecutting letters and wrapping the panel uses almost double the material, depending on design - So it costs quite a bit more...
  6. Question Got offered a good deal on an HP Scitex FB500

It's slow. It's not a bad machine... But I believe it's close to the end of service life, which means no parts... No consumables.... You'd be stuck after market for everything and using old stock. I believe it's eol in 2024... If it hasn't already. Aftermarket ink is better than OEM ink for...
  7. Broken spindle cap..need a replacement

The spindle is the worst design. You have a 70 lb roll on it, then you drop it on a table and the plastic just breaks... We broke so many of them when we had that model. If you had to buy a spindle everytime it'd be crazy expensive! I'm surprised Grimco said that... Maybe they're just...
  8. Broken spindle cap..need a replacement

Huh? You can buy just the cap.... We replaced the caps on ours many times. The spindle and caps were $1500 cad... The hubs were $200 only. Unless they stopped selling them,.which I doubt... They break so easy. Below is the part # that was on our invoice HP PT SERVICE 3" SPINDLE HUBS...
  9. FC8600 strange noise when perf cutting. Need help!

Sounds to me like you just have the pressure set higher on the second machine...the noise is the blade holder hitting the cutting strip, is it not? personally I'd turn off line patterns, cut it like you would a kiss cut but with the perf blade / condition. We get much better cuts without it...
  10. Epson r5070 - anyone got one?

Weird, We dont have a roland... but I tested it compared to our Epson, and from what I remember on our Seiko. With out Flatbed UV printing (Again, an 8 year old model, so not the latest) it's not even comparable. Sales rep told me we had to laminate a print on clear vinyl because it scratches...
  11. Suggestions 2nd cell phone# for business

Do you use traditionally, or VOIP for your provider? We use voip... And we can forward unanswered calls automatically to our cell phones, and it'll show up as our business name, that way we know to answer the cell phone "Professionally" instead of "hello". Of course we only set it to do it...
  12. 3 Head UV Printer

While I purchased a chinese flatbed that uses the same xp600 heads as this does... I don't recommend it for anyone who wants a reliable machine that just works. Its built, and feels like a consumer grade desktop printer (basically what it is) It works good, it's fun to play with...
  13. Epson r5070 - anyone got one?

You mainly print wall murals right? Have you compared solvents scratchability / cleaning resistance compared to the resin? Anything that doesn't get laminated goes right to our latex... Even banners now - it's way, way more durable than solvent. Id say it's more durable than UV too...
  14. Epson r5070 - anyone got one?

I have the printer in my 1 car garage. It can get extremely hot in there's especially when printing - it always throws a printer internals too hot warning... But never had an issue with it. Color is still bang on, panels are all perfect in consistency. Been using the machine for 2 years...
  15. issue with laminated coroplast signs printed on HPFB750

Are you using laminate designed for UV prints? UV prints are raised.... And regular laminate doesn't like it. And our hp UV ink wasn't the best on Coro... If you laminated it, it'd lift the ink off the Coro.... Most people who laminate Coro / UV prints use liquid laminate.... As flatbed...

  18. Canva

If it's a graphic that stretching works on, I blow it up and email them. This is has about 15 circles of various sizes, and all the smaller ones turn into ovals... Looks weird so I didn't offer it to this person. Last time I did they they approved it then complained it looked weird when...
