  1. Issues Cutting Foam Core

Could it be heat (friction)? I don't have a Colex but I know that friction can warm up foam and pvc to the point of becoming sticky, which could cause tearout.
  2. No Pantone But Client Wants "Color Match" - what does your shop do?

Really only a few options: 1. Ask them to choose an available color 2. Ask them to bring you a sample to match 3. Add cost to the job to cover custom-mixed paint swatches
  3. Flippin' Illustrator keeps shutting down. Not crashing, just disappearing.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/27-1-1-and-27-2-illustrator-crashes-and-disappear-using-wacom-tablet/m-p/13513837 Here's a similar sounding complaint that was traced back to a Wacom driver -
  4. Discussion Boudica...................................

This one's a little moody and twangy, but a great song -
  5. Need Help Here!!!!!

As Boudica mentioned, Flexi has some great tutorials on YT: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL961oV9sNePBIwwWPzzBAZ99JqO8rY2v9 Be careful with "free" assets - some are only free for personal use, with attribution, have sales limits, etc. Adobe Stock has a free for commercial section...
  6. Looking for fully editable numbers and letter templates like this

Yes! Smart Objects! I use this when building menu files. That way I can edit the menu content/pricing without mucking up everything else. Did you do this in Illustrator?
  7. Wake up HP Latex 630 from remote desktop????

Its just the IP address of the printer. Put that into your URL bar of choice and you can access the printer from the network.
  8. Wake up HP Latex 630 from remote desktop????

Yep, you can wake it from the embedded web server (on a 300 series anyway): https://lkc.hp.com/blog/how-to-use-the-embedded-web-server-on-hp-latex-300-series
  9. Suggestions Laser level for exterior use?

I've seen the guys around here using these two-piece leveling systems in their construction projects. I think one device levels off the other since the laser lines aren't visible outdoors. (this isn't my pic - just did a quick search for a visual aid)
  10. Question easiest way to make a template, for REO sign riders

Do you have Composer? There's a text merge feature that reads content from a Notepad note and puts it into your file where/how you want. https://www.signs101.com/threads/text-merge-function-in-gerber-omega.19769/
  11. Anyone know what this "mechanism" is called?

Transfer tape applicator? https://uscutter.com/webermade-double-shaft-tape-applicator-tool/ In my shop we have the single version, but I put two rolls side by side. As stated above, something like this is easy to build on your own as well.
  12. Can you make pole pockets without a banner welder?

I have also made plenty with hem tape and grommets, but they're usually smaller, temporary, under a covered alcove, etc. Depending on your job, there is also HH-66 vinyl cement. It may provide a little extra help. I used it for the first time recently and it worked really well...
  13. Wood Post Top Bracket for Vertical Signs?

Thanks! This is a great idea!
  14. Roland Versaworks 5.5.1 (not 6)

I was previously running a SP-300V and used these instructions to install VW 5.5.1 on W10 last year with no trouble (yes, I know it's a guide for W7, but it worked). This guide specifically says to NOT install drivers - check out Page 5, Step 2. May not be applicable to your printer, or newer...
  15. Will you rate my long overdue baseball card design?

It's the sign maker's version of a dad joke - ha!
  16. Wood Post Top Bracket for Vertical Signs?

I totally agree. Our Historical Research Council and Architectural Review Board may not, though. They don't like the look of having a pair of one-sided signs back-to-back on a single post, which is why these signs are so screwed up in the first place. Ugh...
  17. Wood Post Top Bracket for Vertical Signs?

What about this? This is the idea our brainstorming session came up with. 1. Cut off the old post top. 2. Drill a 3/4" diameter hole through the post about 4" down. 3. Recip cut a new 3/4" notch for an MDO panel. 4. Re-miter the top. What do you guys think? Assuming I scale the signs down to...
  18. Wood Post Top Bracket for Vertical Signs?

Yeah, that would definitely be easier. I have asked about changing up this style of post for the few single-sided signs, but haven't heard back yet. I was hoping to also present a better option for the double-sided signs, but the brackets I'm seeing essentially just work the same way. How would...
  19. Wood Post Top Bracket for Vertical Signs?

I have been tasked with replacing some old double-sided parking lot signs that were slotted into wood posts. The signs were 30"h x 24"w x .063 aluminum - it's no wonder they all bent, snapped, or fell off. They were only being held on with a few inches of post. Does anyone know of any type of...
  20. Raises?

We just went through something similar here. My employer has been unable to attract or retain employees for years so they commissioned an outside agency to study our pay rates compared to the rest of our area. They did this at the same time they rolled out a new merit-based employee evaluation...
