  1. Mimaki CJV150 contour cutting is way off

Looks like you're doing multiples of the same file, are you doing them all as a single file together? If so, try doing them as single files (print copies with reg marks around each one individually instead of marks around a bunch of them), that way you're just cutting each as a 5.5x38 file...
  2. Mimaki CJV150 Print Quality

A lot of things can cause that... Too low of a print resolution selected, wrong print profile for the media, old media. If it's not a vector image and the image resolution is low they'll print like that too.
  3. Roland XC-540 Making Noise While Printing - Service Call Errors

You just stated the issue right there. All those codes are limit sensors, head lock, carriage connection, encoder... Plus the noise are all things that would happen when the belt is missing teeth and allows play and slop in the carriage movement. Replace the belt.
  4. Gaps in nozzle test

As long as it's not from a head strike, soaking the head might bring it back. That's where I would start.
  5. Careful with solventinkjet.com

That in itself was the problem... When you take on the task, you take on the liability too.
  6. Careful with solventinkjet.com

Hello, and welcome to the internet. The place that took away common sense approaches to solving problems, like working with vendors and service providers to remedy problems. Instead, everyone wants to come bash first to anyone that will listen, then wonder why no one wants to deal with them...

  8. Suggestions re-installing stud mounted acrylic lettering

For removing taped on letters & panels.... Wire cutting kit for removing windshields. They're $20-30 for a kit with a spool of cutting wire & handles, replacement wires come on spools from 75'-300' in several different styles and thickness, some are smooth, some are braided or textured to cut...
  9. City Guidelines

Best to contact someone with the city, building inspector is a good place to start. Navigating through regulations isn't always straightforward, and following regulations that may or may not have changed since they were last published is a nightmare, even with simple stuff that you wouldn't...
  10. does anyone clear the edges of sign gold?

Use a good sward pinstripe brush, they hold a lot of material... Less dippy-dippy, more painty-painty ;)
  11. ACM OUTSIDE

No, don't do that. ACM is a sign face panel for printing/ mounting vinyl to, you can even paint on it. It's durable, decorative, long lasting, and strong, but not "structure strength" strong. Plus with the plastic core, heat from any electronics & lighting could affect it, not worth all the...
  12. Not Really Surprise...

If the suits were just US based, you'd probably lose, because we always seem to lose to corporate interest. As hard as our courts try to protect US copyrights from being infringed upon by other countries, I'm curious to see what happens when it goes the other way like with UK based Getty. Even...
  13. Not Really Surprise...

    I present exhibit A. :toasting:
  14. Not Really Surprise...

There's still that pesky clause in copyrighting that says it has to be created by a human, so until it gets clarified legally everything created by AI is pretty much royalty free, zero copyright protection, you can steal it, take it, use it as you please, and no one can stop you... Unless it...
  15. So.......................................................................

No menus, a sign no one can see... This place has success written all over it. Maybe Gino will at least get a few good lunches before they go down ;)
  16. Black Drop Ink Mutoh 1604x

Every time that happens to me it's usually a piece of fuzz, hair, or debris stuck on the head. It collects ink and when there's enough it drops it when it passes over the edge of the media. It can be small enough where you don't even see it if you're not looking for it. That's where I would start.
  17. JV300 Half damper missing

I would look into that too. When the printer does its refresh cycle when it's shut off, and cleanings, it does pump cleaning solution to the head cap. Could cause issues down the line, especially over weekends & holidays when it's not being used. That should be a pretty easy fix, maybe a kinked...
  18. What's the worst file you've been given to print?

We have a local company we do work for that does modular wall panels, and once in a while they get requests for custom artwork on them. It has to be all vector because they finish them with architectural coatings, and everything is done by stenciling, we've done a few for them without any...
  19. What's the worst file you've been given to print?

I really don't think I could narrow any one down as the worst in the decades I've been doing this. I've seen it all... Besides employment in this industry, my sideline for about the past ten years is doing ads for magazines, publications, and newspapers. Most of them I do from scratch, but some...
