  1. Need Help Roland VP-540 Black Print Failure

change cap tops and dampers (that's usually where i go first. i can do it my self and it's not expensive.) you can try pulling ink with a syringe. try a head soak over night. after those options i usually end up calling the tech in
  2. New Flatbed Printer

all important questions. also if your current machine fits the bill you may not want to switch brands because you will be also switching inks and sometimes it's problem getting compatible inks for the substrate you are printing on. make sure to run some test samples with that said we have a...

  5. Aluminum with Cut Vinyl Clear Coated

is it just cut vinyl or is it printed and cut vinyl? if its just cut vinyl/plotter vinyl then you wouldn't need laminate or clear coat or maybe i am misunderstanding ?
  6. Removal Technique (waxing)

interesting. will keep that in mind for our next removal. most of the time with difficult removals we use the vinyl zapper. takes off the vinyl and glue. great machine
  7. Applying vinyl to tents

i would use a high-tack vinyl but i generally don't do this. every time they fold it up and set it up it's going to cause issues with the vinyl. not going to last. (how long depends on how often they use it) really best if ordered with the graphics on it

we usually print right on the panels with our flatbed printer but on occasion have to print on clear or trans vinyl with our roland eco solvent printers. in both cases we just do an over print which is an option in the rip program. usually that is enough to get good colors when illuminated
  10. Switching from thermal to inkjet?

gerber edge was our first digital printer and a great machine. used it for years even after getting inkjet printers. thermal has a lot more capabilities of what you can do with it. you can print on colored material with no issue. you can print metallic, Flourescent as well as 4 color process...
  11. Need Help Advice on printer

we have solvent, eco solvent, latex and uv all have there pro's and con's and all are good at specific purposes but if all you're doing is vinyl and banners i would stick with solvent. we have had good experiences with roland up until the truvis. that was a piece of crap. also roland has done...
  12. Question Xc-540 print head failing?

since the test pattern has that wave to it i would agree probably a bad head strike that caused damage to the head but along with a 24-48 hour head soak you could try pulling ink through the cap top hose with a syringe and also try changing the dampers
  13. Waste Ink

google hazardous waste removal or waste ink removal. there are companies that will come and pick it up. depending on how much you have you can pour in to saw dust or spill cleanup compound, let it out gas/dry and throw it in the dumpster. also check with your town, they may have a liquid waste...
  14. Employee side business

unfortunately i don't think you can legally stop them as long as it isn't interfering with the job they do for you. now if they start stealing customers, materials or time then you have a reason to fire them but that's about it. you can tell them not to do it but then they will do it behind your...

  18. Metal Gemini letters on siding - peaks or valleys?

the only thing i would be concerned about is your studs are long enough on the peaks to get enough stud in to the plywood so it holds properly
  19. Sign Install...

I WOULD JUST EXPLAIN THE SITUATION TO THEM ABOUT THE COLD TEMP AND INSTALLING VINYL. I FIGURE THEY HAVE TWO OPTIONS, 1 GO WITH THE VINYL AND TAKE THE RISK OR 2 MAKE A BANNER YOU CAN FASTEN TO THE EXISTING SIGN UNTIL IT'S WARM ENOUGH TO INSTALL THE VINYL.
