Gerber cutters will NOT use and parallel (LPT) cable and you must have the correct cable (pi outs) for the particular cutter.

The Edge2 needs an ECP port because of the high data rates needed to "feed" the printer. ParCheck actually checks the "chip set" to see if it has the proper ECP capibilities. If your printer is an Edge2 the best solution is to purchase a USB to Parallel cable and driver from Gerber. Attempting...

It's too uniform, I think it's a cable within the printer itself, not the cable from printer to computer. Check for loose connections under the hood.

I should call Gerber (TechSupport) but I believe if it is a Edge LE, ( Serial number 492XXX to 499XXX ), it will have to come in for repair. The older Edge Classic 665XXX to 666XXX and Edge Trunion 667XXX to 699XXX we no longer service these units.
