Then it may be an electrical issue. Ribbon cable may not be seated. With all the work you did you may have unknowingly bumped into one of them.

Seems like a good price. I would pay close attention to the linear rails/bearing blocks and mechanical bits. Make sure there is no slop in the rails/bearings and be darn sure they and anything else aren't proprietary.

If you do a considerable volume you may want to look into a dedicated label press. They will print, laminate, contour cut, slit and reroll automatically. Lots of them just a quick Google search away. If you buy one get it with the laser cutter. Able to cut any shape you want at stupid fast speed.
