  4. Does graphic card matter?

Nah, I walk in both worlds. RIP and basic design for my business is on a PC. Heavy stuff gets done on my Mac.
  5. Illustrator Performance

Ai generated, going to be seeing a lot of wack a$$ "art" on everything. All this new BS makes me want to find an old time brush guy that is willing to train me. Had started that path decades ago but the old souls demons got the better of him. If I could find someone no worries for me being...
  6. Illustrator Performance

Adobe is becoming slower and slower with each iteration. That's why I am using Affinity products more and more. Flexi is still my go to for quick projects. If Flexi can't handle it Affinity Designer or Photo gets the nod. All the "special features Adobe adds that are of no use to sign makers...
  7. A Very Organized Sign Shop

That home brew application table is awesome. He said it's a torsion box assembly, which when done correctly is unbelievably rigid. Got me thinkin' as I've got about 40 feet of THK ultra rails and bearings collecting dust...
  8. Does graphic card matter?

As far as a new computer get an iMac. Yeah yeah I know lots of hate for Mac but the new rigs with the M1/M2 chip are rockets. Best part is you get an awesome monitor that plays well within a color managed system. Lots of things go into a profiled workflow. A monitor is one of the areas where...
  9. Suggestions Desktop Printer for Proofing

No need to print on vinyl with a properly profiled system. Belmark uses Epsons for contract proofs. The printers in use are actually classed as RGB printers. I can't remember the exact number of inks. The rigs we had on campus were 11 color. Biggest thing is having your monitor and printer...
  10. How to deal with clients when it comes to how pdf files view on a computer vs. actual color.

Forgot to add I started creating color books. Cribbed the idea from Belmark after a class field trip. Although mine isn't as complex it still has all the required data to duplicate a job. Substrate, laminate, inkset, profile, signed color proof, "tails" from the job and so on. The presenter...
  11. Slanted dimensional letters/logo

May want to try a place like Peachtree City Foamcraft. Hawk should be able to tell you right away if they can do it.
  12. How to deal with clients when it comes to how pdf files view on a computer vs. actual color.

We deal with it just like Jay Grooms. You want a dead match you pay for proofs. Client also gets to sign and date their proof of choice so there can be no monkey business down the road. As far as looking washed out on screen there are some things you can do. First would be to get a good IPS...
  13. LED Neon In House?

Call around to manufacturers, watch YouTube videos and take some time to do YOUR OWN RESEARCH. For the most part this forum is a group of seasoned pros. Coming on here and asking us to do YOUR legwork for you ain't gonna end well. BTW getting snarky with one of the best in the business is a...
  14. 1624 missing cyan

Head is smoked. Half a channel doesn't suddenly quit. Just went through it earlier this year only mine lost exactly half of the Yellow channel. Fortunately VanderJ(see post above) with SoventInkJet can get you hooked up.;)
  15. looking for an acrylic bending machine

Holy crap! Looks like the one I built. Rarely use it, I think it's in the mini-barn out back.
  16. Outline fill option greyed out

Thanks for posting the solution. So many don't.
  17. looking for an acrylic bending machine

Same here. Scrap plywood with dado, fiberglass cloth and ribbon heater. Wait for acrylic to welt then place on a prebuilt form.
  18. Printing on ij680cr

What is the print job? If it's chevrons for emergency vehicles you can buy them premade or get the roll material and DIY.
  19. Banner printing - Mimaki cjv30-100

Posting the same thing three different times won't get you any love here. Chill out and helpful gurus magically show up when they have the time. As far as your print issues it could be any number of things starting with the profile. Could be crap material or old stock too. Old banner will...
  20. Pantone / Adobe copyright issues

Of course it is. Song and dance about compatibility or whatever else they pulled out of their a$$ was all BS like we knew it would be. F 'em.
