  1. hanging sign from concrete ceiling

Great information and another reason I stopped doing a lot of installs I used to do.
  2. Steel 4x4 post base

Stop by your local Class 8 truck repair and get a used brake drum or disc then weld some square tube to it. The casting of the drums will add that certain rustic "je ne sais quoi".
  3. multiple passes for clear

It is always a specific thing. Different manufacturers go about it in specific ways.
  4. Can I make T-shirts with a OKI E-64s?

I agree with hybriddesign. Just order the transfers. There was a recent thread regarding the subject. You'll need a decent heat press too.
  5. hanging sign from concrete ceiling

I would TapCon in some small stainless D-rings. Then hang whatever you want.
  6. Getting involved but what machine!?!?

Find the dealer with a good tech in your town and go see what they have. Trust me when I say buy local, even if it costs more. As far as buying used don't do it. Good way to buy someone else's boat anchor.
  7. Source for these style of exit signs?

    Could be from here... https://www.larsonelectronics.com/product/71625/replacement-exit-sign-assembly-for-exp-emg-ext-12w-emergency-backup-failsafe-lighting-fixtures
  8. Friday chit chat about being nice...

I find the different takes on the discussion are worth the read. I've been around a long time and there are no definitive solutions to these types of issues. Unless it directly affects me and mine I don't get involved. Too many crazies out there and you just might anger the wrong person.
  9. Need help to solve gradient color not printing properly in EPSON S80670

Create a new gradient using the Blend tool in Illustrator. Send the file as either a PDFx4, EPS of TIFF.
  10. Permanent Carpet Vinyl(?)

Find a shop that does carved carpet and have them make an inlay. Friend of mine used to do it years ago. Logos, family crests, whatever you wanted. He would do the inlays them hand bevel/trim. Had quite the business. Or....find a shop that does the composite boat mat(?). Not sure what it's...
  11. Vinyl for temporary vehicle decals

Big Fish has microdot material that would be perfect. I've used it for temp applications and the clients like it. Best part is if they store it correctly it's reusable.
  12. Hammertone finish

That's a powder coated finish. OP needs to use low energy surface vinyl. You're welcome.;)
  13. UV Ink Fume Air Filtration Options - Bofa Print Pro + Others?

Talk to your local HVAC shop about an ERV(energy recovery ventilator). Either that or a proper air exchange setup with ducted MUA(make up air). I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night I just happen to weld for hire for an HVAC contractor.
  14. Weird clicking sounds VP300

On my 540V the clicking sound was coming from the spit pad cover. Removed it and silence. It could also come from the ribbon cables if a fastener or two came loose.
  15. SPANISH FONT

Makes sense. Translations are tricky. Rare occasion we've needed something translated my wife contacted the university and asked.
  16. SPANISH FONT

I'm confused. Why would a sign person need help downloading a font?
  17. You Save Big Money...You Save Big Money...

Good thing you can't see my wife's car. Going to be painting it this weekend to try and squeak a couple more years out of it. It's an '05 and the newest vehicle in the "fleet". Rust is a b!tch. So are squirrels. Not sure how they managed to do it but they stored acorns in the front fender...
  18. Discussion New machine or repair old

I have a 1624x ValueJet. Print services at the college runs a 1641SR Pro. I know everyone in the department so I get feedback. They've been quite pleased with the rig. Ran through a set of inks in under two months.
  19. Vg2 reds?

Could be the profile or material. Only way to know for sure is to do instrumented testing. Densitometer would tell you if you're getting 100 100 for your red. That being said, I recently had color issues and it was because of the vinyl. Thought the print head was going out, nope. Something...
