  1. Need Help TrueVis VG2-540 Processing Issue

Something in the background probably did and "upgrade" and now the system is monkeyed up. Have that issue on campus in the print lab. One tiny little upgrade and it causes the RIP's to crash or not work at all. Not a real fan of network attached stuff wither but that's personal preference.
  2. Fun Situation.

If it wasn't specified in the original contract I don't think there's much you can do. For me If a job calls for logo design or cleaning up a low res logo it's stated that I own the work. Only two places I don't do that and it's a church I've been working with for two decades and a local...
  3. I am new to laminating, I SUUUUCK AT IT , I mean really suck at it. Need a video, tutorial or some veteran hacks to get this right....

I wrote a lengthy post regarding this very thing. Run a search on the site, sure don't want to type that up again. Lots of tips and tricks. I run a 65" RS. One thing I will tell you is the leading edge has to be PERFECTLY perpendicular to the sides or you're going to be in trouble. Gotta...
  4. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Would have liked to try the brisket.:p. As far as fire control goes I call it the "damper dance". I'm getting much better and improving with each cook. I've found how I load the Akorn and how much of the lump I light and where determines how much control I have. Last low and slow I did was...
  5. Is a UV Printer The Only Way?

Hmmm....I don't know a lot about them but there are no inks to dry out. Lots of spare parts too. Not sure about parts but Phil from Arimark would be able to help you out. Honestly for that kind of money I'd be tempted to take a flyer on it. Worse case you can part it out or write it off...
  6. Is a UV Printer The Only Way?

Brain fade this morning. One of these bad boys would do it all in one shot. https://www.airmark.com/collections/dc-series-printer-cutter
  7. Is a UV Printer The Only Way?

Ahhh...now I understand. Two quid for a roughly 3 inch sticker. I'm doing something very wrong. I'd look at the latex rigs as you can remove the white print heads when you don't need them and you don't waste ink either.
  8. Who makes thin chrome Mylar?

Check into Real Gold's "chrome". It is real nickel. Other than that I have an idea of what was on the boat but can't recall the manufacturer or if it's even available. Super thin films for sponsor decals are used on F1 cars so as not to upset the aerodynamics. Those films are about half the...
  9. Is a UV Printer The Only Way?

I need to understand something. Why are you wanting to print on clear and leave a clear "bleed"? Normal CMYK printer combined with a Summa or Graphtec plotter will bang those out all day and you don't have to mess with white ink. They won't have the clear edge but you also won't have to deal...

I'll see if I can scare up a pic of my Neapolitan pizza. I watch Vido Iacopelli on YouTube. He's a master pizzaiolo and passionate about his craft. My other pizza's are me playing around with different flavors. I make what I call a Bejing pizza with garlicky stir fried pork and a Sambal...
  11. multiple passes for clear

I'm no help as I don't run white or clear in my shop but I found this for you. Let us know if you got it to work.
  12. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Dang that's a good looking pizza. Akorn users unite. Run the heck out of mine. Everything from low and slow to chasing the perfect Neapolitan pizza. Baked birthday cakes and holiday cookies too. Not sure how hot it got but the paint turned a chalky rose from the heat doing Neapolitan pizzas...
  13. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

You ain't lived until you've tried it. Sweetness tames the heat from the pepper flakes I use. I lean on the Thai influence for some recipes, like the flatbread pizza: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Spicy and Bitter. Always looking to try authentic cuisine. Nothing like homemade sauerbraten with...
  14. So, you think YOU'RE really a wall-dog? Hold my beer....

If ya gotta ask... Can't imagine there's a ton of stone carvers anymore. He probably decides if he wants to work the following year and charges enough to cover not working for twelve months.:D. People are probably happy to pay it too.
  15. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Here's one for Gino. Flatbread pizza with Capicola, fresh basil, Michigan peaches and Pepperjack cheese. Pic is just before going on the Akorn over a wood fire.:p
  16. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Ribeye salad with garden veggies and homemade Dragon Pepper and Ginger vinaigrette. If you've never eaten Thai dragon Peppers they're akin to putting a hot coal on your tongue.
  17. So, you think YOU'RE really a wall-dog? Hold my beer....

Wow! That's some skill. One slip there and you can't wipe it off with thinner and a rag.

From scratch Orange Chicken. If you like Chinese style orange chicken, make this. A bit putzy but it will stop you from ordering take out. Recipe is from Binging with Babish. Look up Sugar Chicken.(Rick and Morty reference)

[Okonomiyaki, Japanese for "as you wish". It is one of our go to meals.
  20. Need Laminator Repair person/company for Los Angeles area

I'd start with contacting AGL. If that fails check YouTube for videos. Laminators aren't too complicated. Now if it's something like the crown is worn off the nip rolls there is no cheap fix. I managed to dial in my RS with this issue but not sure how long it will last.
