I have multiple 315s and have pulled the plugs out on all of them while running more times than I can count. When the head carriage jams up on the material I pull the plugs out for faster recovery
Check how many jets are out and pray that that's the issue, otherwise you have ink contamination and it's gonna cost bucks.

I recently did a concave wall and was worried about going top down, I ended up trying top down and it worked fine. I used the 6mil vinyl from kapco that has a canvas texture to it. It worked beautifully. Just squeegee center out, center out and you'll be fine.
